Hello to all in a previous post i asked about recomendations about an army for me and my brother. After a lot of recomendation i got more or less what models to buy but i wanted to ask if this selection is right for a newbie army:
- 3x Necron Catacomb Command Barge ———> is three too much?
- 24x Necron Warriors
- 5x Necron Immortals
- 2x Necron Doomsday Ark ————> is 2 necesary or i could make do with 1?
- 3x Canoptek Wraiths
- 2x Necron Canoptek Spyder
- 6x Necron Scarab Swarms
-1x monolith
As for the dark eldar army i have this
1 battleforce
1 x pack of scourges
2 x eldar venoms
2 x ravager
1 x archon
1 x dark eldar inccubus
1 x reavers
Thank you

I'm assuming that you have both codices, because those should be the first things on your list.
Other than that, I would strongly suggest starting small. 40k is expensive and painting and modeling is very time consuming and if you buy in all at once you will find it an extremely daunting challenge. I'd suggest just getting enough for about 500 - 750 points at first, and then going from there.
For Necrons, I would say pick up the battleforce (its an amazing deal, since it gives you 20 warriors, 5 Immortals, 5 scarab bases, and a Ghost/Doomsday Ark) and an CCB kit which you use to make an overlord on foot and a annihilation barge. Assuming that you assemble the Ark as a Ghost ark rather than as a Doomsday Ark (which in my opinion is the better use of the kit) it will put you at 740 points (for 20 warriors, a ghost ark, 5 immortals, 5 scarabs, an annihilation barge, and a overlord with a warscythe and either sepiternal weave or mindshackle scarabs). For the DE, I'm not sure about points costs, but I would suggest something similar, starting with about 750 points, so I'd say stick with the battleforce, the archon, and maybe get another kabalite warrior squad, another Raider, and a Venom or something. As you feel ready expand to more things, which by then you will usually have a better idea of what you want, and will keep you buying things you aren't really crazy about and that will just end up sitting on your shelf collecting dust (the Spyders and Scarabs won't get much use unless you are playing scarab farm, and most Necron players strongly dislike the monolith).

Thanks for the answer
Yes i have both codex back in my country. I get what you mean, im new to 40k but i play WE in fantasy. But i wont paint all the armies. My brother would get the necron and i get the DE.
A question because of the DE list i already got the battleforce, 1 ravager, 2 venoms and 1 scourge. If i buy my brother the necron battleforce how could i expand it so we stand more or less in the same points range.
To bad for the monolith, we both like that one. Very intimidating :/

I honestly have no idea about point costs for the DE codex, but I'm going to assume that you both want to start at the 1000 point range. From there, take my suggestions (Battleforce + Annihilation Barge) and have your brother go through the codex to see what he likes the idea of. While some things choices are much better than others, pretty much everything has at least one use, although that use may be extremely narrow. I would suggest looking at either Wraiths, a second Annihilation Barge, more troops, some Crypteks, or some Destroyers. Wraiths are one of the most powerful units in the codex, and are great because although you can build around them, they also do just fine as something extra you squeeze in. Annihilation Barges are similar. They are an extremely good choice, and can either be built around or just stuck in a list. The Annihilation Barge is also arguably the BEST value for a kit you can get from GW. More troops are always nice, especially when they are as good as Necron Troops, and a second battleforce could give you a decent list (giving you 2 Ghost Arks). A blob of 20 warriors with an attached Res Orb Lord and a GA behind them are a very tough unit to kill. Crypteks are a good choice, since they act like weapons upgrades for the squad. They have a lot of versatility and cool abilities, and if you are decent with green stuff you can convert the Lychguard/Triarch Praetorian kit into 5 Crypteks for fairly cheap (protip, use the heads from Deathmarks to make things easier). Destroyers are an under-rated unit in the codex, as the heavy destroyer is one of the few sources of long-range shooting available to Necrons. Even though they are 60 points for a single heavy destroyer, they provide highly accurate and mobile lascannons on a T5 3+ save body with RP, which is a deal that many other codices would kill for. However, I will repeat that it is probably best to play around to see what you like before rushing out and spending a few hundred dollars on units you might not like. If your brother loves scarabs, tell him to get Spyders and more warrior boxes (for the scarabs included). If your brother loves warriors, get battleforces by the dozen and pick up some res orb lords. Don't rush into this too much, even with you both coming from fantasy. Take your time, start small (I still say that 750 is a good place to start with both armies) and work your way up based on what you like and what catches your eye. As one last note: Despite what I said about the Monolith, nearly everything in the Necron codex is usable (with the arguable exception of Flayed Ones, which are so expensive $ wise these days that I don't know why anybody would them). However, while some things can be used in any list, like warriors or wraiths, some require extremely focused and specialized lists in order to be good. Spyders don't really work that well with just one or two, you need to really take a lot of them and a ton of scarabs to go with them. Triarch Stalkers are generally considered useless unless you build a very specific list which plays them to their full advantage. Even the Necron flyer list only works because they are built around, a lone or even a pair of Night/Doom Scythes are only going to be mediocre. What I tried to steer you towards were more general choices so that you can really play around with them to figure out what works for you.
