First of all hi everyone, first post here so sorry if wrong forum for this question (feel free to move it/delete it)

Let's get directly to the question:
i've started playing some time ago (about when Dark Vengence came out) and now i'm expanding the Space Marine part, so in few words i'm building up a Dark Angels army. Already got some ideas (maybe in the next days i'll post my idea so you can insult me ).
and here's my question, for the Deathwing part of the army (so the terminators) which patter of Land Raider is better? from what i've read on the forums i'm more oriented for the Crusader, especially because i don't like flamers to much.
what's your opinions?

Oh to let you know, the army i've got in mind (and most if my wallet can afford it) is about a 2300-2600 points (including the weapons i would like to use and all the addiction to the squads

I prefer the crusader. It holds more models, and the hurricane bolters have a longer range.

I actually prefer the redemmer with all the other marine armies out there.
Drive it straight between a couple of power armoured tac squads and everything under those two templates is dead on a 2+

I can see it now....Nids are now a collection of autonomous hive fleets there are multiple Hive Minds and they all war with one another in addition to everyone else. They speak to humans using telepathy, and they can now ally with Space Wolves as battle brothers, because reasons.
Tyranids talking to humans would be like you talking to your mashed potatoes or the probiotic in your kiefer drink. It is neither possible nor productive.
Inside my mind I pinched my nipples and savored his bitter silence.

I tend to agree with Tod, not only Tac marines but anything really that isnt a 2+ save or T6.
Wounding most units on 2s, Ap3 and denying cover is a huge boon imo.
Sure it has to get up close to use the flamers but if its your main delivery system for a beefed up CC squad or termis then its going to have to ge close anyways.
The Crus has volume of fire and longer range (but not by much) buts its weapons are significantly weaker.
The counter argument for the Red usually goes that trying to get the two flamers on target is tough (units spread out, smallish template, dimensions of the actual model making it harder) and they are short range but the Red hasnt failed me to date in games I've used it in.

What do you intend both tanks to do for you tactically? Delivery system, light infantry killing at range, move and shoot fortress, AV14 distraction for your opponent etc?

Dark Angels are better with the Crusader. - Well, lets caveat that with, "assuming hurricane bolters made up of twin linked boltguns are actually boltguns." - Due to the Banner of Devastation.

Other marine armies do well with the Redeemer. I'm quite a fan of taking one along with my Blood Angels, sticking a librarian and some termies with 'shield of sanguinius' and using it as a mobile cover generator for my jumper squads.

What i was thinking was a "move and shoot fortress" (you know, the only idea of what a land raider can do for me is from Dawn of War xD), that was the idea, but don't know how well they do, as the only games i've played is against my brother (who used the chaos part of the set) and against a friend of mine who started a necron army, so games with few models and pretty quick games

The only real drawback of the redeemer is that those flamer templates are hard to position properly. I like it more than most, but I'm not convinced that it is a better choice than the crusader.

I'd recommend getting a good friend to play you a couple of games where you sub in each pattern, and find out which one you like most. I've used both, and I prefer the Crusader, but I really, really think it's a matter of personal preference. They're both really good, and the differences between them are so narrow that the decision comes down to personal preference.

Admittedly, I don't play people who do 'optimised spacing...'

However, with the amount of Defence lines and bastions creeping up and around now.... Having a big tank full of terminators that can drive up to them and say, "I don't care about yo pansy armour or cover saves' seems to do the job for me.

Whereas the Dark Angels Crusader, holding a command squad with the Banner of Devastation is a better battleline anchor for your tacticals.

Crusader if you need to transport more stuff, Redeemer if you actually want to kill something with the transport itself, not just with the passengers.

The Redeemer plowed through the shot and shell of battle with ease as it advanced up the street towards the enemies postion. casting smoke grenades from its launchers for the infantry behind, it swept the enemies hastily built wall straddling the road and passing buildings with bolter and gelleton flame in cleansing fire.
its roaring engines accelerating to attack speed coughed black smoke from its exhoursts as it closed the distance with frightening speed towards the wide eyed defenders. smashing into the wall the jugunaughts bulky treads powered it through the debris it had created to lay its ramp at the enemies feet.
emerging from within came towering figures in black that felt no mercy for what they were about to do. hacking and slashing with their chain swords tearing at flesh they went about the work of butchers.
when the last scream had died away there was no cry of rejoice from the blood drenched and gore splattered warriors. only one comment was uttered on what they had done. 'position passified'

Come into my web, said the spider to the fly.
Come rest your wings, and let us talk eye to eye.
For I am a spider, and you are the fly. Now that you are here, let us sit, and say hi.
But I have have no morsel to share, nor anything to eat. But wait, what is that stickiness upon your feet.
Ah now I have you, now I can eat. Now I can enjoy you, or store you as meat.
For I am the spider, and you are the fly. How else could it have gone, between one such as you, and one such as I.

Why not have both?

Buy the kit and also some extra bits (doors, mounts, targetters and the central spine) and there you have it.

I have found my Redeemer slightly more useful than my Crusader as I use it to carry around normal marines more often than Termies. If I do play termies, I tend to have two 5-man squads of assault termies and an Ares to back them up.

that could be a nice compromise, anyway, looking at the army i would like to build, think i'm going with the Redeemer
