So pretty simple thread of opinions.
So are Trygon / Mawloc any good in any kind of competitive gaming and what kind of setup and tactics would you use to get most out of them.
What you think?

Trygons are amazing and ive heard polar opinions about the mawloc. Ik a Trygon is incredibly good to include in a deepstrike spam list tho I would be interested to see what people opinions are in this forum about mawlocs.

So here is how it goes for me:
Trygons - One of our best combatants. I usually run either one (in low points games) or two in 1500+. Prime is the common upgrade. I usually run them, but if you've got a DS list, feel free to port them.
Mawlocs - statistically inferior if not for their lower cost. Their DS attack leaves much to luck and is mostly, in my opinion, not worth the points you pay for it. Inferior WS and Attacks for me say clearly - stick to the Trygon.

I've personally always been intrigued by the notion of a Lictor/Mawloc build.

Yey some cheering for trygons!
I have been in doubt after several debates how mawlocs got better in 6th edition, but still.. trygons are real thing in the end if you ask me. 10 pt poisoned wouldn't be that bad either as you can reroll your hits and wounds in close combat as poisoned got buffed?

Unless you are running apoc games dont run any Mawlocs.
Just stick to Trygons (prefer primes) with some upgrades. They will perform and soak a lot of firepower from your enemy before going down in 1 glorious turn of shooting.

What mawlocs can do exceptionally well is clear up blobs behind ADL's. Bu that is very situational, I find Trygons are good in a lot of situations, where as Mawlocs are very one trick ponies.

I personally really like my Mawloc, he has generally performed well for me whenever I bring him (one recent game infact he killed ~500 points of units, culminating in a simultaneous suicide kill against a Tomb Stalker on the last turn). I don't know if Terror from the Deep alone would be worth bringing him, but his mobility has been a huge help for me. The Mawloc is virtually impossible to lock down or isolate, so he is perfectly happy going after those annoying backfield units that are set off on their own, then hit-and-running or burrowing back to the main fight once they have been delt with. I've also had him come to the rescue of my own back-lines a few times as well.

I usually use a Trygon Prime to deep strike on opponent HS, or to destroy troops holding objective before my own troops to capture it. I think that Trygon is one of the most valuable tyranid unit
