Hi All

I've been wanting to make an assaulty dark eldar army for ages, and was about to, but then sixth ed came out and wrecked my idea of a wych cult army. Lately i was thinking of how i could make it possible and i came up with the idea of getting that necron guy as an ally and make night fighting go on for as long as i can. The plan was all falling into place until i checked the allies table and realized they couldn't ally at all. Now that i think about it, i cant beleive i didn't realize.

Is there any way to get a similar effect (eg. lots of night fighting) without necron allies or a plausible way of getting an assaulty dark eldar army happening. The only other thing is im not interested at all in eldar allies, even though i know they are the best option we have.

Thanks

Read these other two threads.
They talk a lot about how dark eldar can make very competitive assaulty lists.

i have read the first one, and that was the one that got me thinking, but that seems to rely on invisibility, and that requires the eldar, the second linking states in the intro, are there any competitive eldar/de builds, again what im trying to stay away from

They are good reads though

Invis is just icing on the cake. Remember the beasts are still getting steath from the baron anyway.
Even without invis they are 3+ from cover behind the aegis, or in ruins.

If your trying to avoid allied builds though -- can't help you. Wytches just don't cut it in 6th edition with the changes to assauting from vehicles and overwatch.

its not that im trying to avoid allies, but i want to look away for eldar. I dare say there's probably an ally combo out there that could make it a lot more deadly, such as my above example of necrons being able to make it night fighting for many turns, making my units a lot more survivable

Here is the challange. Look at this thread.

The trick is you need to only allow for one round of shooting on your army. Thats why you need fast moving transports, which the dark eldar have.

thats a lot more like what i'm after, thanks.

Does anyone know of any other army that can make night fighting occur for longer?

Eldar Corsairs, it's an armylist from IA11.
A Corsair Prince can make a turn of nightfighting (for the opponent only if he uses his ability at the end of his shooting phase).
If you don't mind playing with FW stuff then this could be ideal.
