So I just finished building my Dreadknight conversion... He's not fully painted yet, with lots of shading and highlighting left, but here he is complete with statline:

HQ

Varimathras the Banisher - 300 points

WS--BS---S---T---W---I---A---Ld---Sv
-6----4----6---6---4----5---4---10----2+

Unit Composition:
1 (Unique)

Unit Type:
Jump Monstrous Creature (Character)

Wargear:
Dreadknight Armour
Hellbane
Ceramite Shieldwall
Nemesis Doomfist
Personal Teleporter

Hellbane - Hellbane is a wrist-mounted Nemesis Greatsword of phenomenal power, granting the wielder the Rampage and Counter-Attack special rules.

Ceramite Shieldwall - Formerly the top hatch of an Inquisition Rhino, the Tech Priests of Titan have fashioned a crude Doomfist mount and integrated a warpfield generator into the ceramite plating, allowing it to be wielded by a Dreadknight as an oversized battle shield. The Ceramite Shieldwall follows all of the normal rules for a Storm Shield, conveying a 3+ invulnerable save to Varimathras.

Special Rules:
The Aegis
And They Shall Know No Fear
Preferred Enemy (Daemons)
Psyker (Mastery Level 1)*
Rampage
Counter-Attack

*Varimathras can generate two powers from either the Divination, Pyromancy or Telekinesis disciplines (in any combination) in place of those listed on his profile. In the case of Varimathras, unlike the Grey Knights Librarian, the Hammerhand power listed on his profile is replaced by one of the powers generated as normal.

Psychic Powers:
Dark Excommunication
Hammerhand

I thought his points costing was about right but what do you guys think?

So, a base Dreadknight is 130pts. Add the basic wargear you have, and he comes to 230pts. Now, for 70pts, you have a 3++, Counter attack, rampage, the option for different psychic powers, better WS, better I, and more attacks.

Honestly, the 3++ alone is HUGE. Like game-breakingly huge. Imagine your opponent trying to chew through 4 wounds at T6, with a 2+ armour save, and then a 3++ for everything else. It just wouldn't be fun.

I don't even want to try and balance out that bit of wargear by points cost. Even a 4++ is significantly powerful.

My recommendation would be to bring the invuln save down to 4++ and it'd still be in the 350pts range. 2+/4++, 4 attacks + D3 from rampage (almost always be outnumbered), re-roll all failed to hit and wound, WS6, strike before all non character marines, and a 30" move once a game is still obscenely powerful.

Sorry can't disclose.....infiltrating

Great model, but these rules need some tweaking a 3++ on a dreadknight, if he gets malediction, I really don't see anything standing in his way, he will just tear enemy armies apart, instakilling hqs, and wiping the floor with all but horde units

My Armies :
VC
Warriors of Chaos
Dark Elves

Or do what all Dreadknights do and get shot off the board before they get into combat! lol.

I think all you would need to do is change to a 4++ and maybe add 20 points but keep the rest the same.

Dradknight with teleporter and sword is 230

Make this guy 100 points more, and for that you get +1 WS, +1 invun, and the ability to take book powers. Sounds fair tbh

I'm going to remove the ability to take book powers all together I think. Normally you'd do it simply to take divination (prescience), but he gets re-rolls to hit, wound and pen due to his Greatsword anyway so it's fairly pointless.

I'm also taking away the bonuses added to his profile, so he defaults back to a standard Dreadknight stat line. He's keeping Rampage and Counter-Attack for now.

I'll do some math hammer and post my findings.
