I'm just starting to play and this is my second post in a couple of days on pretty much the same subject but I'm back. Today I picked up a couple more things but my main questions are about the regular grey knights. I have three squads now and I wanted to make some purifiers. I thought to make one squad of purifiers for now leaving me with two squads of troops and add another later along with another squad of paladins. My other thoughts were to add some henchman. Are they worth it?

What do you think?

Personally I use some henchemen with multimeltas for anti tank then add a jokero to boost them and they seem to work well for about 70 points.

I feel that Strike squads work really well as 10 man units. 10 dudes with 2 psycannons and psybolt ammo is a real threat on the board. 5 man strike squads simply don't do much.

Purifier units can work well at any size. Smaller units with 2x psycannons in rhinos are still good when the shoot. Cleansing Flame and cheap halberds on 2 attack models means they will hurt something in the assault phase, even as a small unit.

Basically, if you are building your models, make as many psycannon as you can. Strike squad guys gets swords, Purifiers get Halberds. Strike Squad Sarge can take a Halberd for challenging if you want. Maybe add 1 hammer to a random dude in either squad if you want.

Henchmen are basically high damage, low durability units. They are very customizable and able to fill almost any role you want them too.

As you already have the DCA and a Land Raider, I would suggest getting some crusaders. 4-5 crusaders, 5-6 DCA in the land raider is a very powerful unit. Normal GK units do not make good use of a land raider, as they want a transport with firepoints so they can shoot at stuff. Assault henchmen are a pure assault unit so the assault vehicle is great for them.

With Purifiers I've been thinking about doing them in 10 man squads with 3 Psycannons and an incinerator, 5 Halberds and 1 hammer. 285 points. Justicar takes a Halberd in case of challenges of course.

This allows the unit to be slightly generalist while still putting out 6-12 Psycannon shots a turn. You have the Flamer and a decent volume of fire still for hordes, or overwatch, you have 10 initiative 6 attacks, a hammer and cleansing flame even if someone does try and assault you.

Granted the unit is still fairly expensive, but using one incinerator saves you 10 points as it's a free upgrade for them.

One squad of 10 purifiers and 2 of 10 strikes are pretty much a perfect amount unless your trying to run a crowe list. Henchmen are good, but you really need to guardsmen with bolters/special weapons to make good use of them. Jokaero and such, only really work if your going to run Coteaz, elite henchmen just aren't worth anything.

Purifiers aren't really concerned with hordes, just go with 4 psycannons, they're really cheap on purifiers, where as it costs you a lot more elsewhere. BTW, you might want to think about making them into interceptors instead of purifiers. Shunt move and 4 psycannon shots into the rear of most vehicles is nothing but pain.

I think what you really need are some Psyflemen Dreadnoughts.

Yeah, telling people how this and that is 'garbage' and they should just throw their minis into the trash as they're not as efficient as XYZ.
