Hi my buddy who I play with just got a new Grey Knight army and I just got a necron force. Are there any tips you have ? I am fairly new to wargaming so any advice would be appreciated.

My buddy's GK army list....

-1 dreadknight
-5 terminators
-5 strike squad
- grandmaster hq

My Army List so far.....
NECRONS

-20 warriors
-5 immortals/deathmark
-5 lychguard/praetorian
-doomsday arc
- Overlord (HQ)
-annihilation barge -----> with a overlord
- 5 scarabs -------->dont really need with GK

What would you add in/take out?

Massed fire will bring the termies down, as will any warscythes. Problem with GK termies is that they are AP3 instant-deathing at intiative weapons, so lychguard are screwed. Lords/olords/dlords with mindshackle scarabs are your best option for melee, as well as massed fire for termie popping. Deathmarks work well IF you put a despair cryptek with a veil in them. AP2 flamer wounding them on a 2+. GG GTFO the table, termies.

Peronally, that dreadknight is going to be a nightmare depending on how it is kitted. If he has a flamer and a teleporter on it, kiss your warriors goodbye instantly. Monstrous creature means you can't mindshackle it and you can't challenge it. Massed fire to deal with that, too.

Basically, get a TON of shooting and avoid assault.

You can mind shackle scarab monstrous creatures. I don't know anything about a dread knight, never dealt with one before, but if any model has the independent character rule, it can be challenged. Maybe there is something about a special rule the dread knight has that won't let it work, but generally, mind shackle works on non vehicle units.
