Hi all,

First time posting here and I keep going in circles on how to build my IG army. the game i will be playing will have as opponents 1500/per army so they will be eldar and tau vs traitor IG (me) and CSM. 3000pts total per side. My ally is planning on taking huron, cultists, some CC CSM's, a maulerfined, chaos spawn, obliterators, bikes and tanks. Idea is to present high value targets for opponents to focus on. So what i have been thinking is providing a lot of blast/large blast support.

My possible list is below:

HQ: CCS: Vox, Regiment standard, autocannon, master of ordnance.

Elites: Psyker squad with 9 men + overseer, standard powers in 5th edition codex (i.e. soulstorm)

Troops: Infantry platoon
PCS: GL x3, Flamer
2 x infantry squads w/ 1 PG per squad
1 x heavy weapons team with autocannon, lascannon, mortar
1 x special weapon squad w/ 2 x demo charges, 1 flamer
1 x vet squad with vox, autocannon, 2x PG's, 1 flamer
1 x vet squad w/ vox, lascannon, 2 x PG's, 1 flamer

Heavy: 2 bassies w/ camo (increase cover save vs high AP/STR weapons

Fast: 2 scout sentinels w/ autocannons

Fortifications: aegis w/ quad gun.

My idea is to put bassies behind aegis and support them with infantry squads against melee units. utilize Vet's BS with PG's and heavy weapons. The overall goal is to protect the large blast units (psykers, bassies, etc) while they pound the eldar/tau units.

I have not played against eldar since 2nd edition rules but i expect jetbikes, striking scorpions, wraithlords from eldar, tau would be a balance of vehicles, points in the battlesuits and some kroot.

I still have 200 points left to spend so unsure if i should perhaps put them into one more battery of medusas, bassies or colossus for ignore cover saves, into more fast attack/outflank units or just load up on more troops to spread the pain out. I do no ahve any models for valkryie's so that option is out.

So any and all suggestions would be much appreciated and thank you in advance for the advice.

One big point, I wouldn't rely on psykers against eldar. 3d6 isn't very forgiving to us guardsmen, and if a pathfinder manages to snipe the overseer, suddenly your whole squad is in trouble...

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...
