Specifically Seaforge. I've been poking at my War Room looking for a second Warmachine faction to pick up. I have my Cygnar about where I want it for the next little while, my Trolls are growing slowly, and I want another warmachine faction to grow beside them. None of the full factions appealed to me, so I started going through the different merc lists, and decided that I love the look of the Rhulic jacks (well, the Grundback ones and the Basher atleast), the High Shield Corps, Forge Guard, really everyone apart from the Driller and Madhammer.
So I was playing around with a low points list, just to start off with, and I was thinking something along the lines of this;
Ossrum
Gunner
Gunner
Blaster
Max High Shield Gun Corp
High Shield UA
As you can see, I really like the little Grundback things, atleast the look of them anyway. And the fact they are ARM18 lights. The Cygnar heavy I own is ARM18 for crying out loud...
So anyway, how does that look as a place to start? He can snipe the Gun Corps, bulldoze when the enemy get too close to get one more turn of up close shooting, the jacks will need 3 focus between them a turn, leaving him with 3 (2 after an upkeep), just seems like it would kind of work. I look forwards to your help

You need things that will kill warjacks/beasts.
I suggest dropping 2x gunner and blaster for.
Driller + Blaster Or
Driller + Gunner.

Well the driller is one of 2 models I specifically said I didn't much appreciate. However whenever I try to fit in a Rockram I end up 1 pt away from 15. Unless I wanted to take an artillery unit and herne and jonn or something like that, but I like the look of the High Shields far too much...perhaps I'll save up for an extra few weeks and dive in at 25 pts where things may fit better. How would this look for a 25 pt list? Ossrum Blaster Gunner Rockram High Shield Gun Corps w/ UA Then with 5 pts left I can't pick between taking Thor and a Gunner and an Artillery Corps (and dropping the Gunner from the above list), or taking a min sized Forgeguard unit. Or at 15 pts, this; Ossrum Gunner Steinhammer Basher High Shield Gun Corps w/ UA

Your missing out by skipping on the driller imo.
But. since your looking into Ossrum i have some suggestions.
Id start with Horgenhold Forge Guard.
an amazing unit, even more so with Oss.
8 pts for the full unit is a bargin.
Ill add that i dont think the High Shields are worth 11pts, but you like the unit, so i wont say dont take them.
Now, since your wanting to avoid drillers, you need a melee punch for heavies.. I dont consider 1x Heavy warjack as meeting this role. Expeciall slow Rhulic Jacks.
My solution is ForgeGuard
For 25pts you could maybe try ?
Oss
Gunner
Blaster
Full Shields +UA
Max Forge Guard
5 free points, Maybe a min Forge guard ?
(I plan on running 20x Forge Guard with Oss at 35)

The more I look at the model, the more I like it to be honest, I guess I was being needlessly inflexible. What is it that Ossrum brings for the Forge Guard? I'm thinking it is Marshal Discipline and his Feat? Am I missing another bit? Would; Ossrum Driller Rockhammer Forge Guard Max Forge Guard Max at 25 points be too low on range for such a slow army? Would; Ossrum Driller Thor Gunner Forge Guard Max High Shields Max w/UA balance out the range better, while still having melee capability in the Forge Guard and Driller? I'm trying to get a list hashed out before I purchase anything because I'm tighter than a ducks butt.

Forge guard has hidden speed to me.
SPD 4 + Charge 3 + Reach 2" = 9" Charge
A unit like Exemplar Errants
SPD 5 Charge 3 - 8" Charge
Reach makes a huge difference.
Now we factor in Oss.
SPD 4 +3" Charge + 2(Feat) + Reach = 11" Threat range.
With pathfinder
With Defensive line up to ARM 18 - Feat up to ARM 20
I would suggest playing with 1 unit of forge guard to see how you like them before you buy a 2nd at the price they are.
Mat 7 PS11 Weaponmasters are nice. on Average, thats 25 dmg per Guy on the charge.
Big question. You said you played Cygnar ?
Do you have Gun mages + UA ?

No, they are still on the list to buy.
And I'd be looking to run these rhul folk as seaforge, I'm aware you miss out on other units that you would get with different mercenary contracts, but this wouldn't be an overly 'serious' army, more for modelling and having fun games than going to tournies if that makes sense, at least initially.

The only reason i asked is you could Temp. use them as filler points while testing what to finish the list up with.
Even with my dislike for High shields, the 2nd list would be a better balance to add some ranged.

Yeah, and that'll help the forge guard get up the board. Where are the rules for the different contracts found? I can't find them on war room, are they only in the merc book or something?
