I had wanted to field a HQ IC in terminator armour (mainly because I have some modelling ideas to make a cool model), I also want to run Death Company and had thought about joining the two together, making the IC a chaplain/reclusiarch and putting them in a Stormraven but I had forgotten the IC will take away the Death Company's ability to do a sweeping advance. This would likely mean after launching from the assault rams of the SR the unit would only get one round of combat in before they send the opponents running, can't SA, and then the DC models get shot to bits in the next round.
So I was wondering: when you have a HQ IC in Terminator armour and for whatever reason you don't want to take a termie squad what is the next best unit you could use to complement said character?

The restriction on Sweeping Advance isn't too bad TBH, Death Company is pretty hardy. You still get to consolidate as well.

Librarian in Terminator Armour and Shield with an unit of Sternguard, Divination powers for re-roll to hit.
I find this a pretty nasty combo, 2+/3++ and LOS, for BA I might even attach a Sanguinary Priest (apothecary) for FnP

You're best putting said character with a unit you want to protect, so that the character can take 2+ saves until they have 1w left then fall back on LOS to avoid more.
Trouble is, these units will be in your mid or backfield whereas Chaplains are next to worthless if they don't get stuck in.
So terminator chaplain with ANY non termie unit is usually a bad idea. Librarians suit better, though of course they only have 2 wounds.
...wait. Did I finally find a use for the BA Captain?!

Thanks for responding.
I actually wanted to have the IC more assault based. I might just go for it and see if not being able to use SA isn't too bad like AlmightyWalrus said.
