Hello there guys and gals.

I am wondering what different people's takes are on what advice is good/bad to give in the Army lists section.

Here are some of the things that I feel are poor advice, and see happening quite often:

-Giving advice that is not related to areas the OP of the thread asked for help with.

-People who do not know a codex give advice to newer players, often in an attempt to persuade them to use a different codex.

-Posters being unfamiliar with the current edition of the ruleset, yet still handing out advice on it.

Occasionally people will preface "advice" with a statement saying they do not know much about a given topic, but this is not normally the case.
(And if you don't know about a topic, why try to give advice on it?)

Thoughts?

The main thing that lead me to make this thread is that a guy I called out for giving terrible advice has started sending me harassing messages, and it seems he tried to threaten me in one of them. I am wondering how the community in general feels about bad advice.

Ulterior motive, ahoy!
...glibness aside, if what you say is true this is uncalled for and a breach of forum guidelines. You should report this to a mod if you haven't already.

As for the question...? This is the Internet - there will always be people willing to spout an uninformed opinion just to have their "voice" heard. You can't stop it - you can only learn to spot the telltale signs and filter out the good from the bad. With the specific points you've raised, it sounds like you're pretty much there.
