Subject: to landraider or not, an expensive question

Evening all
Just wondering what thoughts were around putting a group of five deathwing knights into a landraider (with belial) and using that to deliver them to the enemy. Ive put one in a test list and it comes out at over 500points, and that's without belial... Is it worth it or is it better to spend the points on troops (more deathwing knights?) and deep strike them?

I quite like a raider in 6th because in my local meta the lack of melta, and plasma/auto cannon wont do anything more than scratch the paint.

I use a Chaos Land Raider, arguably the crappiest version of the vehicle, and I like it. But it depends a lot upon your met and how you want to play the army.
If you are playing full Deathwing and tossing lots of termis about, you don't need the LR. You can trust that enough will survive to charge next turn, and cana fford to use those points for more troops, upgrades and fortifications.
If you are doing mixed wings or usng a single termi unit, the LR gains a bit more importance. Dropping a single unit of Deathwing knights in front of the enemy via deepstrike is asking to have them plasma'd to death or entangled with 30 cultists, termagants or boyz;. It becomes important to assure the charge so you can get full use of your unit. Remember that with Smoke and a Shadow speeder nearby, you can have a 4+ cover on your LR, which is nothing to sneeze at.
On the other hand, if your meta is heavy on drop pod sternguard, Dark eldar or Necrons, you may rarely be able to use your big expensive tank effectively before it gets blown sky-high.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.
In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos. |

I'd use a Crusader, throw a couple more Knights in there, and maybe even Ezekiel.

Don't put Belial in there. Get Ezekial of a Challenge Libby (Terminator armor, Mace of Redemption, Force Axe, Displacer Field, Divination.) And 7 guys in hoods also throw in a watcher for kicks and giggles. Then go smash face
