Like the title says, this is the last battle, the mother of all conflicts, happening in 40k. The Emprah's body must be defended. The night sky is lit bright with the countless number of fleets battling over head. The Imperial Palace is taking a beating more intense then the seize of Terra during the last battle of the Horus Heresy. So, who's all here, and why (making things as epic as possible si vous plait)?

The first part is easy, the Deamon Princes have united, pushed by their dark gods to do so, and are leading the full might of their assembled legions on this crusade. The Loyal Primarchs have also come back, don't argue about that, just accept it for this story line, and have reunited their legions. Also, all the Imperial forces available, those not destroyed while trying to halt the advance of the traitor legions and all the deamons the warp can spit out, have been recalled to Terra and are arriving as fast as they can.

So that takes care of the Chaos and Imperial forces. Help me come up with the best reasons for all the other factions to be present, in large numbers, for this fight. For example: A hive fleet has made it to Terra virtually unmolested, the Imperium was busy trying to stop everything vomiting out of the Eye of Terror. That's just an example, its not really my favorite. The story lines I like I'll add to the original post giving credit to whomever came up with it. Also, I you want to tell the specific stories of how the primarchs came back that would be cool too. Make sure everyone arrives at the party. It's gonna be epic.

Inquisitorial lesson #298: Why to Hate Choas Gods, cont'd-
With Chaos, Tzeench would probably turn your hands, feet and face into
scrotums, complete with appropriate nerve endings. Then Khorne would
force you and all your friends to fight to the death using your new
scrotal appendages. Once they get tired of that, you get tossed to
Slaanesh who <censored by order of the Inquisition>, until you finally
end up in Nurgle's clutches and he uses you as a loofah.

Well, I'm not really much of a storyteller, but the following would make sense...

The Eldar would probably want to steer towards an Imperial victory and so would likely help out against Chaos, though not getting involved in direct battle if at all possible. They could probably convince some, though not all, Dark Eldar to lend a hand since Chaos winning and dominating the galaxy would present a large threat to the relative safety of Comorragh.

The Orks don't exactly NEED a reason to get involved. Someone mentioned dis big skrap wot woz 'appenin, a skrap ta end ALL skraps, and da boyz liked da sound o' dat! Likewise, the Tyranids have their own motivation... they're already drawn to the Astronomican, the source of which is Earth, and the redeployment of forces throughout the galaxy could give them a chance to reach it relatively unimpeded. However, they'd be more than happy to chew whoever they come across first, so they're not exactly fighting on either side.

Tau would come to the help of the imperium for the greater good but probably would arrive centuries too late.
Necron would probably want to activate a big doomsday device in the middle of the fight to cripples the imperium and chaos in one fell swoop. And they make a piss stop to march to get munchies and The void dragon. And probably nab as many techpriest as they can to put in a glass showcase of primitive techbarbarian.
