Hi Dakka dakka, a friend of mine just started to build a pre-heresy Emperors children army and was talking to me about including an Emperors champion in it. This of course caused us to get into a minor debate about how that would work fluff wise and such.

He made a very good argument why he should be allowed to have one since if you read the fluff there are mentions that it was the only legion of its time to have the right to bear the aquila in the chapters on heraldry, along with the part where there III legions XVI cohort got assigned as the Emperors honour guard for proxima's formal accession into the Imperium.

The problem is, that i don't still agree with him and we are still clashing on the matter, so what does the people of Dakka Dakka think in this matter?.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need

Do the rules allow him to include an emperor's champion with whatever army list/rule book he is using? If so, yes, he is allowed to, if not, then no. Part of the beauty of 40k is that since the setting is so large and ambiguous you can do pretty much whatever you want and still have it be fluffy.
