I have a lot of complaints about the new Chaos Daemon Codex but this is one WYSIWYG idea that I think is sorely lacking.

We're all familiar with the Fiends of Slaanesh (the overpriced [$25/model], ugly as sin, horse looking models with the gi-bangous scorpion stinger.) Why on Earth do these models not have the option to purchase the Venomous Sting upgrade? They are one of only two Daemon Models that have an blatantly obvious venomous stinger as part of their model.

Its bad enough that they now have -1 S, -2A in exchange for +1W, +1I. They also lose Rending and Hit & Run?!?


Sorry I'm a little ticked off that two days ago I finished assembling 12 of these models and the next day they were bludgeoned with the NERF bat before I could even field them once. I think giving us Venomous Sting as an upgrade option would be the least they could do, especially due to the loss of Rending.

I'll be fair... that was silly in the first place. A new codex JUST around the corner and you decide to build 12 Fiends

No, I ordered some Goblin Spider Riders and Daemonettes last year. But due to some developments at work and in my personal life, they've been sitting in the corner up until two weeks ago. I'm still out some money but not $25 per model. I was actually quite surprised that the new Codex was available yesterday. I stopped into the local store for some more green stuff and found them unpacking the new daemon stuff. The rumors I had heard on the web were saying the new codex probably wouldn't drop till Summer, maybe as late as August.

Back on topic though, the Fiends may be getting a new model. The old models are listed as Unavailable on GW's site now. Maybe the stinger will be removed and we'll have a good looking model for a change. I wouldn't even mind it rendering my WYSIWYG point void if it meant getting a better looking model.

Either way, i hope they get a new model. I like the rules. I like the fluff. Hate the fething model. REALLY LOATHE that price tag :(

Read the various Chaos god Daemon rules....all Daemons of Slaanesh have Rending and can run an extra 3", or an extra 6" if Cavalry/Beasts, and Fleet. Plus the Fiends get some other good effects like subtracting 5 from the enemy's Initiative, and enemy psykers are at -1 Ld within 12". Combine that with the Masque's 3rd dance to prevent Overwatch, and the Fiends could do some good work. Plus you can take 9 models in a unit now.
