I've noticed that recently the Tau rumor thread got closed for lack for a better reason then "Looks like the thread has reached the end of its useful life. See you guys in the next one!"

This to me seems completely unnecessary and especially at a critical time for the army the the rumors are suppose to be for. Tau are rumored to be released in April(possibly May). But they are being released and quoted to be the next army book for sure. Why would you close the Tau rumor thread days after the daemons book came out. Tau rumors should be flowing in like clockwork now, and we no longer have a thread that exists to measure the new rumors with the old, so come up with a completely account of possible releases. I for one am very upset about this and think the methods by which the moderators close threads should be reviews and restructured. This thread itself is very likely to get closed due to the topic of choice, I figured that this needed to be said.

p.s. for those who follow the Tau rumor thread. Here are the latest rumors from Faeit212:

http://natfka.blogspot.com/2013/03/it-seems-that-tau-are-inevitable.html

Noticed the fact that there have been 4 separate rumor releases on this site alone since the closing of the Tau rumor thread.

There is currently a new Tau rumor thread. The one that was closed was probably closed because it was waaaaay off topic.

Also, the Natfka 'rumor releases' you are mentioning are REAAAAAALLLY thin. I usually copy everything over for good measure from them but ignored those.

Lastly, if you want to discuss moderation, you might want this in nuts and bolts or to PM the mods in question.`

That post went up as I was typing this. The last comment was off topic but the ones before were still somewhat inline, and the thread was really waiting for the chaos daemons to come out before taking off again. The natfka rumors aren't that bad. I did pm him, got not response. Thought this thread was needed because the Tau thread being closed was only the most recent one where a thread was closed unnecessarily.

The last two-three pages of this thread:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/300/505360.page

were wishlisting and discussion of random game mechanics and the silly 'cinematic' meme.

It was closed with good reason.

A thread that has become over-long, unwieldy and well off topic will often be closed because it has lost its purpose and usefulness to readers. This is especially true of news and rumours where new people may not want to wade through pages of out of date info.

As I recall, the main Tau Rumour thread had largely turned into a discussion of desired rules for a new codex. This is a totally valid subject within 40K Proposed Rules, or a thread discussing that sort of idea but not as an extension of a thread intended to include news.

Closing a thread does not preclude the opening of a new one on the same topic, when new information is available of course.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I think we're all sorted now then.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
