So Ive been working on a LOTD army for What I feel is too long, anyways The fluff behind my Army is that well there A traitor Guard, and Um...They all infiltrate and what not. Really mixed up bunch of traitors, no 2 look the same. Ive got allot of green stuff action going on.

Well, Im kinda basing this Army's background on the fact that they have been fighting on this industrial world for years? Something like the Idea of Stalingrad but more like on a World scale...Hey its 40K come on!!

So these guys are desperate, really desperate kinda like the Germans in WW2 in Stalingrad. So they scavenge anything they can find, I mean anything. Armor, Auto-guns, Shotguns, etc. etc.

So say ammo is short, so some of these guys make or even a unit armorer fabricate crossbows to be used when ammo is low or no Lasgun or Autogun is avaliable.

I think it sounds good, kinda fluff-E. I have a few crossbow arms siting around. So I converted a few traitors to have crossbows.. They "count as" a Lasgun.

They ratio is like 1 or 2 crossbows to every 16 lasguns..

Here are some of the Minis Ive been working on, I have about 35 done.. I think I have another 30ish to go..?

Here is a Sentinel I built, I wanted it to look like the Traitors up armoured it really fast and with what ever materials they had on hand. I made some fat weld lines, kinda like the WW2 weld lines seen on tanks..

One of the Crossbow carrying traitors, hes not finished yet..

A Feral looking traitor, and a traitor with a STEN or Owen like SMG

A traitor with a Steal Legion rocket launcher, I liked it, kinda looks like the Russian RPG-7

Ya Im still working on 'em

I like em. Great idea for a theme for your army. The one guy looks a little to "medevil" for an industrial planet for my likeing, but he could easily improve after a coat of paint so I'll withold final judgement.

Looking good. I'm anticipating the painted final product.

Nice stuff, should look really keen if you can devise a similarly desperate feeling paint scheme. As for whether they are too medieval for an "Industrial World", I think of movies like Road Warrior. As long as they don't look too far apart thematically, you could justify just about any kind of armor and weapon improvisation. Which is why I think you should use even more improvised weapons than just one or two men per 16 guys. This is one of your primary conversion elements, run with it.(Is that Sten an inverted Grot Blasta?) Not that you should have a ton of crossbows, per se, but alot of obviously improvised weapons. It isn't like you will get complaints that the weapon looks to weak to be a lasgun.

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

I like the direction you're taking with this. Very atmospheric. What kind of color scheme are you thinking of using? The key will be to preserve the ramshackle feel of the army, but still have it hang together thematically.

I have a tank Im working on, Its going to be used as a Russ, Im not sure If I want to use it though. 1 its not GW so NO RT games.., and 2 its
really huge. Ive added some GW stuff and some scratch built stuff like the front mounted Heavy bolter, In which I made a weapons mount,
and a cut-down Ork Shoota barrel. A rear facing Heavy stubber for those Imperials trying to bust the tank up from there rear..
I geuss I could say its some kinda old local tank that the Traitors pulled outta of a Imperial Museum and pressed into service
to use??

Its based after a Russian KV-1 tank from WW2

Well its been awhile still and Im still working on My LOTD Army, I passed up the idea that they have anything
to do with the BloodPact, Just a bunch of traitors & what not. Ive thought of the following Ideas and really cant stay with
anything for fluff background, exept there all Pretty much have live on a Giant planet that kinda resembles Stalingrad, or some destroyed war torn
city from the Balkans. Anyways there still in the works, Im taking my time building Armies now adays, instead of cranking them out just so I can play ASAP.

I was going to use a KV-1 Russian tank Model, but after building some of the "Basic's". I figured it was WAY to big, even after
I chopped down the hull about 2 inches.

So I went back to the Russ, Im saying its going to be looted from the Imperial Guard. Then modified by the Traitors.

I refrenced a Well known Ork page for some Industrial looks.
Its still being worked on, I dont like what H-Bolters look like so I think Im going to chop 'em out and switch 'em with some Big-Shootas.
So with this I fattened the Tracks with some Plastic Card. As with the Turret I wanted to bulk it out so I added spacers and addition armor. Ill add more rivets on the Track shoes soon.

The chopped down Barrel. I dont care for the stock barrel so..

Ive also fixed up some older Sentinels Ive had sitting around, Armor Plated the drivers area. I tried to make them look crude, and hastily put together. The Green stuff is suppose to represent weld lines. Also the Multi-Lasers have been chopped or sawn-off more for fluff that anything. You know urban Combat Carbines, shortened barrels, etc etc..

Once again Im building more Traitors, Like I said Im taking my time Each Traitor is Converted diffrently, alot of them have Animal hides, or rat hides stitched on them or added to them to give them more of a rugged look. Also Ive made it a point to add a few traitors with wounds, Peg-Leg, Hook hand, some improvised CCW prostitics. Easy prostetics for an Force with limited equipment.

Peg leg guy:

Hook handed guy:

Stump Dagger thing? Guy on the right

And last but not least the Infamous Traitor with Crossbow..

-Thanks!

Wow! It all looks really good. The conversions are all unique looking, and the plasticard armor on the tanks is well done.

Ah its cool, I know it looks Orky. I geuss thats what happens when I look at an ork page for insperation! I suppose I wanted it to look crude in a way. Thats as orky as its going to get I think. Id like to throw some Big shootas on the sponsens but Dont know?

Any ideas on what I could use inplace of the Heavy bolters instead of Big-Shootas?

I cant think of anything else!

Thanks for the comments !!

I can imagine they gave the "FNG" the crossbow....

Sergeant (handing out lasguns to each trooper in the line): Okay, you pukes, these are the last working lasguns, so treat them with respect!

Platoon (in unison): Yes, sir!

Sergeant (coming to the end of the line, drops a crossbow and a few rusty bolt's in FNG's hands): Alright, kid. You'll be leading the assault today!

FNG: *gulp*

The riviets are what give it an orky look - you might want to consider putting in greenstuff welds for some parts, but I honestly think that the paint job will either make them traitor guard or diggaz.

Cheers!

Ah more work, Getting older sucks you gotta work! Anyways....

The Russ is comming along fairly well I like it, even though it has an orky look to it. Ah more rivets for the track
shoes, and I chopped the muffler and added a new pipe. Any ideas for sponsons? I was thinking of not having
them, I gotta pick up some Big shootas...

Turret got the TC's hatch thrown on, extra armor on it for those pesky infantry in the upper levels of
buildings looking for the thin armor on the Russ, as again chopped barrel.

More traitors

Gernade chuck'in traitor with a Sten like SMG slug on his back.

This traitor is down on his luck, hes rocking a musket. Better than the crossbow? Maybe not
keep that powder dry!

This guy looted the local Imperial historical building, during the uprising. Old school helm
and an autogun..

And the finally...
I suppose this is going to be the Traitor General, Cuthulhu who?

Keeps getting better and better. I really love the "feel" of these traitors. Down on their luck, no true logistics, scavenging from the dead. I like the traitor with the old skool Orlock lasgun and the scrathbuilt Sten gun. And a Cthulhu-like sorceror leading them....hmmmm.....perhaps they're seeking the rise of Ryleth?

OK I need a unifying color for my LOTD troopers, I want them to look all rag tag but also like they also belong in the same unit!

I was thinking of something like 1 single shoulder pad that has the same "mark/symbol"?? on it but then again I don't want to paint 60 traitor's all differently!

Any ideas?

-Thanks for any help!

Im thinking of ditching the musket guy, Im not sure yet?

There seems to be 5 guys with X-bows, most with looted lasguns, a few autoguns, and the rare sten-like grot blasta gun thing.
