I'm planning on painting my ravenwing in very dark-but-not-black colours.

So far I've experimented on some old models with a dark blue scheme:

- 50-50 mix of Kantor Blue and Abaddon Black basecoat
- edge highlight of The Fang, followed by Russ Grey
- 1-2 washes of Nuln Oil (not decided on which looks better so far, one or two.

I found the wash(es) left some tide marks that looked a bit patchy but a coat of matt varnish seemed to flatten it back out.

Just wondering if anyone has experimented with similar methods when painting black, I just don't want to do the usual black undercoat and highlighted with grey as I think it's done a lot.

The colours I've used above give a very dark look with a hint of blue, almost like a Crow's feathers...

Thanks for any help!
