Hey i just sold my warmachine army and have decided to get back into the game, mostly because it has really picked up in my area and i wont have to fight the same guy over and over till he quits yet i want to avoid an army that will feel like i am just playing a different styled menoth army.

I was thinking skorne, or cygnar.

Wherever and whenever they appear they leave only destruction in their wake; they are the Lords of Death, Bringers of War. The Dark Angels.

I play both and Skorne is very similar to Menoth

I would say that Skorne is the "offensive" Menoth, With more Power and Speed

Trolls are also very similar, but share the defensiveness of Menoth

Cygnar is pretty different but I often feel it lacking by comparison

I would suggest Ret or Circle

6+ = 6/36 | Reroll 1s = 7/36 | Reroll Misses = 11/36 ||||||| 5+ = 12/36 | Reroll 1s 14/36 | Reroll Misses = 20/36 ||||||| 4+ = 18/36 | Reroll 1s 21/36 | Reroll Misses = 27/36
3+ = 24/36 | Reroll 1s 28/36 | Reroll Misses = 32/36 ||||||| 2+ = 30/36 | Reroll 1s 35/36 ||||||| Highest of 2d6 = 4.47

I play both Menoth and Skorne too.

Skorne is only like Menoth in that both rely on buffs and internal synergy. But aside from that very basic concept they are different.

Menoth has defensive buffs, Skorne has offensive ones.

Skorne does have a Choir equivilant in the Paingiver Beast Handlers, and they are just about as auto-include as the Choir too.

Simply changing from Focus to Fury will probably be enough of a change for you. They certaintly don't feel like playing a similar army.

Menoth is slow, Skorne looks slow, but they can get scary fast.

An example, a Bronzeback with Abuse and Rush cast on him has an 11.5" charge, plus a Beatback move for each hit he lands if you use his Animus. which could be up to another 7" total of movement. You wouldn't gather he can reach out that far by only looking at his movement 4.

Skorne is a little tougher to play because of the same order of activation issues that Menoth has, but aside from this very basic tactical consideration they arn't very similar.

my main thing about retribution is that at times i find it lacking in ascetics for my taste, skorne has always been a cool one for me to admire since i enjoy greco-roman history. It will most likely be skorne, but i will get to convert some circle models over to skorne most likely going to be done with the artful appliance of chains, hooks, and greenstuff armour.

Ehhh, what would the wolves be counting as?

Warmachine isn't all that friendly to Counts As armies.

Competitive play is a major part of the Warmahordes game, and PP has very strict conversion requirements(must be based on original model, easily identifiable, etc...)

Your local group of people will most likely be ok with it, but you would find pick-up games with strangers(or tournaments) to be a nightmare. You would likely get kicked out if opponents had trouble remembering that your Warpwolf isn't actually a Warpwolf.

During a game, I shouldn't have to keep reminding myself that my opponents army isn't what it seems like.

Its really just being courteous to your opponent. So he can actually play the game tactically instead of making stupid mistakes because he had a slip and thought he was playing against a Circle army instead of Skorne.

we do a league they didnt mind, people made stuff out of clay and they were okay with it. I was talking about using titan bits and a lot of work, until i realized that it would be cheaper to buy a titan.

Cryx is very different. Gators are different. And of course you could always hold off until Cyriss hits.

Skorne has plenty of infantry.

You can do Praetorians which are swarms of generally weak dudes, Cataphracts who are comperable to Bastions for Menoth, or Nilitors(crazy suicide infantry that hit really hard)

Or you can do Imortals and Ancestral Guardians for super tough small based infantry that hit fairly hard.
