Hi all,

I'm curious about Infinity and was wondering a few things.

Is there a standard height for floors in buildings? 2", 3", etc.?

Let's say I wanted to spend $50-$100 to start, would that be enough to get enough models where you wouldn't need to pick anything else for a while, or is there a different amount you'd need to spend to have everything you'd need right away?

Are there a few factions that are best for new players, or is anything fine to get started with?

The rules are all available on-line for free, right?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

If you are making your own buildings the dimensions will be down to you personal preference. I've made single storey buildings that are about 2" but they didn't have usable interiors. For buildings where the interior was accessible i've made them about 75mm so pretty much 3". I think 3" probably looks better and is pretty close to the heights of the official MAS scenary as well so if you did get any MAS buildings anything you've made wouldn't look too out of place.

I don't know about prices in dollars but usually a starter set and a couple of extra blisters or a starter set and one of the box sets are enough for a couple of 100 points worth of models which should be enough for a while if you're just starting out. But if you can resist the urge to buy more then i envy your willpower!

I think most of the basic faction starters are prety balanced except for combined army and aleph which have a lot more points than the other starters. I would probably avoid using sectorials to start with as well and their starters aren't always the most balanced.

The rules, army lists and army builders are all on-line and for free, yes! So if you want to the only thing you have to buy are the lovely minatures!

The only thing I might caution you against as a player just starting out is going either Tohaa or Combined Army.

Tohaa, because as the newest faction there's not that many pieces available yet.

Combined Army, because they have a lot of special rules unique to their army.

But ultimately, go with whichever faction you like the look/fluff of the most! While each army has certain strengths(PanO is great at shooting, Haqqislam has the best medics) you can still pick up the minis in a faction to play in the playstyle you want. And if Tohaa or CA floats your boat, you'll make it work.

I tend to use around 70mm heights per level - but that's so that my made terrain will work with my bought terrain. But 55-60mm also works.

(70mm tends to conceal - total cover - a Cutter (TAG) sized model also, which doesn't hurt).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
