Subject: Maxed out modeling for your miniature army!

Shade of Despair and Torment

I just wanted to throw out several ideas that I have done, and seen done, on models. Any one, or even all, of these ideas will elavate your models, and army, to a whole new level!
1. Dynamic reposing.
Jumping over barrel, being shot, dodging. This will require cutting, greenstuff, pinning, etc...
2. Shadow effects.
3. Lighting effects.
4. Gun barrel flashes, and even "smoke" too.
Star Wars figures have had these clear red, orange, and yellow flashes in years past. They work great on 28mm figs. There are also kits out there now.
5. Conversion work on models.
Extra bits, etc...
6. Magnetized bases.
7. Magnetized weapon options.
8. 2x2 scenic board that your minis fit into precut slots.
9. Extreme 9/10 or 10/10 paint job on all the minis.
10. Elaborate banner, markings, and or insignias.
11. Specialty bases, or decorative bases.
12. Individual names on bases.
13. Lighting, inside larger vehicles and models!
14. Motorized models, seen a rhino with tamaya tracks for example.
15. Solid theme of the army, coherency..
Saw one guys army where each base had some sort of debri, when all 88 models were arranged together in an S pattern, ut turned out to be a crashed devilfish and tau bodies everywhere. Really cool.
16. Ltd edition, oop, rare models in army.
17. True scaling.
Vehicles, minis, all of it. This is more a space marine and tyranid option...
18. Movement trays, that match the bases scenery.

Is this technically a tutorial? It's more of a list of things to do, rather than how to actually do any of them

I think it's more personal preference that makes a model pop, I love custom models, elaborate banners and crests ect. But I find names on bases to look cheap, and lights, movement and gun flashes look tacky. I think about magnets as cheating a little, but this all my opinions.

I agree that names look cheap. I've seen and gotten in trade minis with names written on the bases and they've all looked terrible. I like to leave my guys as anonymous pieces of meat that will die in really horrible ways.
