So this is my first 42p list since im going to play my first game at this points level next week. Im going to play against a Jack Heavy Sorscha list. What do you guys think? Im not sure about the pot - my only option (models wise) is to swap it out against a 4th shredder. I had some trouble with sorscha in the past on lower points levels ... but i used Lyllyth there and hope that Thagrosh performs better.

Spoiler:
System: Hordes
Faction: Legion of Everblight
Casters: 1/1
Points: 42/42
Thagrosh, Prophet of Everblight (*5pts)
* Nephilim Soldier (5pts)
* Shredder (2pts)
* Shredder (2pts)
* Shredder (2pts)
* Carnivean (11pts)
* Typhon (12pts)
Blighted Ogrun Warspears (Leader and 4 Grunts) (8pts)
Warspear Chieftain Unit Attachment (2pts)
Spawning Vessel (Leader and 3 Grunts) (2pts)
Blighted Nyss Shepherd (1pts)

pThags is really a brick caster. You want to take advantage of the Death Shroud + Spiny Growth combo. I would drop all but one shredder and the soldier to add another heavy. Scythean comes to mind. Then add the Succubus to help spam Spiny Growth. Typhon is your call. I think he is better served with a caster that can buff him better. But that's your call. And you don't have enough infantry for the vessel to do much for you.

So:
Lose 2x shredder, pot, soldier
Add Succubus and Scythean

Then , personally, would drop Typhon for a Throne of Everblight, a Forsaken, and a Spell Martyr.

pThags greatest asset is his ability to buff his BG armor and offer your opponent a bad piece exchange with his feat in order to prevail in an attrition style fight.

With that it mind, you should be looking at how to exploit his ability to spam animi and punish your enemy during engagement while getting the most out of your beasts.

Typhon has an affinity which is cool, but not always useful. He's a bit squishy for 12 pts and you're going to want a Carny which is 11pts non-character on its own. Too many pts wasted here in my opinion. For 42pt games there isn't a lot of room for wasted pts.

Here is the list I would recommend:
System: Hordes
Faction: Legion of Everblight
Casters: 1/1
Points: 42/42
Thagrosh, Prophet of Everblight (*5pts)
* Black Frost Shard (5pts)
* Carnivean (11pts)
* Scythean (9pts)
* Ravagore (10pts)
Blighted Ogrun Warspears (Leader and 4 Grunts) (8pts)
Warspear Chieftain Unit Attachment (2pts)
x2 Blighted Nyss Shepherds (2pts)

The BFS up the damage output of your beasts and accuracy coupled with pThags dmg buff it becomes an amazingly effecient armor cracking list. Even the Ravagore can deal some pain in melee. The Ravagore helps force engagement and your two heavy beaters (Carny/Scythean) are there to annihilate heavies. All three of your heavies are able to sport effective ARM 22 while in CMD of pThags, and your Warspears also benefit . Brick up the field and punish at range with the Ravagore. Be conservative with the BFS and save them for the harder targets. Punish units and heavies alike with the Warspears. All while moving forward.

I find that the Ravagore is a great trading piece since its ok to have him come back and lose a turn of shooting. Your Scythean will probably be your heaviest lifter in the list, so keep him safe and use him wisely.

This is of course only my opinions and my style of play with him. I love hitting hard while being very tanky at the same time. I favor an attrition style of play with legion.

As a side note; you may also want to fit in the Succubus to help upkeep for free and spam SG, but I'd say you're ok without him in this list. The second shepherd is really only for backup so its ok to swap him out for any other 1 pt model. Forsaken are great, but only one will not be able to keep up with the fury in this list. Besides the Ravagore/Shep combo is a match made in blighted heaven.
