If you look on Easyarmy.com you can find ALL the army lists from the Forces books for FREE.Along with lots of PDF lists.
And you can pay a nominal sum to get the lists from the newer books.
This should give you some idea of how the lists work and points values , before you buy invest in a campain book.

As a fellow new player I will try to help you avoid some of the pitfalls I ran into.
Are you looking for a historically accurate game? If yes then your looking at the wrong system. Ive heard excellent things about Battlegroup Kursk. If your looking for a wargame with a historical backdrop read on.
First off really spend a day or two digging into easy army. Pay a few bucks to open up the British lists you like. Most people play late war, with a few people playing mid war.
Most lists will have alot of units in common. Build some lists that you like, and see what units are shared. Those may be a solid purchase.
Talk to the group that you are hoping to join, see what is present, and ask about what everyone plays. Is it mostly tank based lists, is air support common, what are units that typically dont play well in the group. Dont forget to ask them their average game size.
For purchases research other manufactures! BF is very good, but there are options. Look into plastic soldier company, zezda ect. Ask around!
Dont get ahead of yourself like I did. I currently have 5000 points of germans, and haven't played a game with them, but the 1000 points of british I accidentally acquired have seen alot of board time.
Hope this helps!

But you can still use the army you readied for FoW with other systems. Agree with the advice on Plastic Soldier Company and Zvezda. QRF and Forged in Battle are great options too. Or Peter Pig. And Easy Army is a great resource too. Take your time and enjoy!

Nice. You can go "official" with BF plastic Shermans (and 17 pounders!) and Rifle Company, or you can wait for Plastic Soldier Company to release their late British infantry and get their Shermans too. Either way you'll have a pretty good force!

so 1 question. I'm planing on running an infentry list. I was thinking of having some shermans for armour but I'm unsure how to deal with anti-tank. Should I take the anit-tank tank (M something, I'm bad with names) or go with the 6 prd anti-tank untis.

6pdrs are defensive anti tank weapons. If you want to take on tanks directly either go for Sherman fireflies, 17pdrs or MC10's

thanks. I was looking into the firefies. I wasn't sure because of how many I would need. I was thinking of the MC 10's they are what I forgot the names of Quick question: would the BL 5.5 inch artillery be good? and what role would it fill. I'm looking for artilery that could pound infentry into the dirt. Thanks

If you're just starting out in FOW you may want to consider taking an armor (or armour given that you're looking at Brits) company. From my experience you can get on the table faster. FOW is not the most "realistic" WW2 game out there, but it's fun and can be quite challenging.
As for what units you should take, build a force that fits you. I run a German grenadier company and I like to keep it as infantry-focused as possible. So one vehicle element is the max I like to take (though in higher point games I have to take more just because I don't have the figures). Always expect that your opponent could bring a Tiger though, and make sure you have at least one unit that can handle it (airpower could fill this role). I personally like AT guns because they fit my playing style, but if you want some hard hitting armour and can take it, get a mixed Firefly/Sherman platoon onto the table.
I am currently working on adding a 15 mm figure sourcing guide to Spotting Round, my website, which may help you find the figures that you are looking for. I just completed the French and am working on the 15 mm British figure guide, with infantry posted and artillery/guns going up over the weekend I think (it's a lot of work, so it doesn't go very quickly). I hope to have the Brits finished in a few weeks. If you're looking for top quality then Battlefront is probably for you, but Plastic Soldier Company makes good models at reasonable prices. Watch out with Zvezda. I love their cheap and easy to assemble vehicles at 1:100 scale, but their infantry and guns are 1/72.

Do not buy a copy of Turning tide. They are about to release a revised copy updated for V2 as Overlord. also be prepared for points to change in some units from Turning Tide to Overlord.
If you want to buy a book for Brits that is V3 complaint get the book for Market Garden.

I have a couple questions regarding those miniatures/models by Plastic Soldier Company.
I have started over 20years ago with collecting 1:72 soldiers of all eras. Back in the days I just had the Revell soldiers and when I grew older I got rid of them and never looked back because I never really liked the qualitiy nor the "mix" of stuff in the packages. I went on with Rocco models and later on Tamiya and Dragon stuff in 1:35 scale. Long story short, BGK caught my interest and I am eager to know how the Plastic Soldier Company stuff is qulity wise. Just going with the prize (~130minis for 18bucks) is well, I dont expect too much from them. If the PSC stuff aint that good I would love to get some input about what company could supply me with average to good quality minis in 15 to 20mm seize.
As a side question and a bit OT anyone has a good supplier for those napoleonic war miniatures?
edit: Sorry, was meant to be posted in the BGK thread
edit2: I just copied&pasted my post to put it into the right thread. This one can be deleted
