First off, sorry if this is in the wrong topic, I am going to be making a gaming board which will be used for primarily infinity and for the basing I wanted somthing that looks like the embossed metal you find on walkways and the like

(like this) http://image.ec21.com/image/conniedai/OF0009842886_1/Sell_Embossed_Stainless_Steel_Plate.jpg

does anyone know where I could get a plastic/sticker like thing for this, or how it could be achieved in another way

I am also open to other similar ideas for bases that may be better or simpler to do.

Thanks in advance.

Hm, that's a tough one. You might want to try the modeling section for more help. You'll probably get more traffic in that sub-forum. My only idea could be printing out the image and gluing it down, although that might look funny if you're doing it over a large surface (like the entire board), or if you want the actual texture on the board. A trip to a local hardware store might give you something but I'm not sure. Sorry i couldn't be of more help.

Plastruct, Evergreen, and other companies produce styrene sheets with that exact pattern. Check your local hobby or model train store.

Yeh, plasticard companies make this stuff. I bought a sheet from Antenocitis Workshop a while back for basing. Good stuff but it wasn't cheap, it's probably cheaper to buy more than one sheet at a time from somewhere else. As has been said, Evergreen and Plastruct are good quality and easily available, you local hobby shop might have a selection.

Also, check out this thread for great advice and ideas.

No worries, it's a big website. Here is the one I bought and a few more options. I can't remember which size I bought though.

Glad you found the Terrain thread useful. Lot's of great contribution in there.

Somewhere in south-central England.

If you want to save money and don't mind compromising a bit, grab the image and print as much patterned paper as you need with colour inject.

Paste it on the scenery with PVA glue and give it a wash of diluted PVA glue on top. It will be very resistant to wear, and will look practically as good as Plasticard. Just make sure to get the highlights all facing the same way.

If you want to get fancy you can put your own colours and graphics on to the paper. E.g. directional arrows in Photoshop with a bit of transparency to let the underneath pattern show through.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Good point Kilkrazy. That's probably the best choice for wargaming standard. The plasticard option is expensive so it's better fit for scale modeling standard. If you can afford it, the latter will look amazing, if you want to keep costs down go with what Kil said. Either way it'll look great!

I think killkrazy has had the best idea, the plasticard would cost me nearly £100, which is a bit to much lol, might ad some of the sticker signs that I saw in Casey's thread too, thanks for the help here guys, it is greatly appreciated, will try to get pics up as it comes along, just need to wait till things open again after easter.
