I am attending a 1000 point tournament soon and as i haven't played at that points level for some time i needed to practice. So this is my first practice game vs imperial guard. Mission: emperors will.

Your list was solid, but IG is a tough army for foot eldar. IG weapon teams are T3 though, so use scatter lasers and other high strength weapons to instakill them.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

I thought the list was hard but if I come across a dev squad thats a wrsithlord a turn gone. I feel I can make a better list now.

Guard bring death to most anything with ease so don't feel too bad but i agree that you can devise a more effective list if you apply yourself.

Not sure i can see the point of Fire Dragons on foot. They are both easily avoided and make for an easy target.
It might be worth taking a third Wraithlord instead. Lances are very threatening to vehicles (you were unlucky in the above game) and they can punch anything that survives shooting. They are not indomitable but they are bloody tough and the more the better.

It's easy to be objective about units when devising lists and counter tactics but you place three Wraithlords on the table and only the best and the worst players do not feel a slight chill down their spine at the sight. The best players will always beat you and you'll always beat the worst, but having a (slight) psychological advantage over the players at your own skill level may help just as much as lucky dice rolls when combined with strong strategy and tactical decisions.

I look forward to reading more reports and best of luck in your tournament.

Peace Out!
Jonny!

To place 3 Wraithlords he would lose the war walkers which isn't the best trade off... 2 wraithlords is threatening, 3 is just eh. 5 on the other hand... (Wraithseer + Bel-Annath to get 4 Heavy Supports), but I digress.

Against lists like that, the comment on the blog is one of the best - take out the S8-9 shooting capacity then use the lords flamers to roast the guardsmen alive. Don't be afraid to send a wraithlord into combat - they punch open tanks quite easily. They smash a lot of things to pieces and at base S10 even their HoW hit will instajib most things.

So far the effectiveness of 10 Wraithblades with Ghost Axes:
Tanked 2 Leman Russ squadrons (including the battle cannons and the triple plasma variant); whilst also getting wailed on by everything imaginable in a Fortress of Redemption. Only to get into CC with the tanks and open them up.
2000 points worth of Necrons with Forgeworld additions. Got into CC with a court of Lords and opened them up.
Killed a GUO.
Killed Angrath the Gargantuan Bloodthirster in an Apoc game (with the help of Iranna the Spirit Seer).
Ate a Hammerhead, pathfinders and scored after 3 turns of walking towards a 2000 point Tau gunline and overwatch!
And counting............

Ah, good point. I was not aware they competed for the same slot.

Peace!
