Ok so I just played my second game of firestorm armada and I must say, as the title states, I was quite impressed. While I found the game to lead to the inevitable 3rd turn slaughterfest, it seemed like you always had a veritable cornucopia of options available to you to diversify your outcomes. The races at first all seem quite similar. But once the game got going we realized the quality differences between the different factions.

My buddy played a 1400 point fleet of RSN with a small terran group vs my other buddys relthosan and my aquans each with around 700 pts in our fleets. The results were devistating and incredibly enjoyable. The dice swung violently, and the destruction was immense.

I am exhausted after a long day, but suffice to say, if anyone likes dystopian wars even a little, and wants to take it to the stars, this game is GRRRREAT!! XD I hope this inspires peeps to give spartan games a try, I know I am now a believer! WOOW

Not quite a legal fleet mix there as Terrans and RSN are on opposite sides of the war.
Heck, they're arch enemies. The RSN was formed in the wake of the Terran total planetary nuke bombardment of the capitol planet.

As Commodore Jones said, and don't forget it's not just fluff reasons certain factions can't ally, but also for balance. Still glad you enjoyed the game, though as ever while the rules share the core system, DW and FS:A do have different feels of play to them, so it's not COMPLETELY right to say like one you'll like the other.

Thanks for the heads up. I know my friend did it simply some had the points and it was still a great game. The only reason he won was do to the guy who played the relthoza had noooo idea what to do with them and drove his dreadnaught into 1400 points worth of rsn XD
