Hello fellow gamers...

I collect tau, like...a lot of tau (I have even played with them for years, including the dark times ....of fifth edition).

One thing though, is I am always looking for ways to customize, or piece together more unique or sometimes better looking (yes, its subjective) models.

Well, I have an Aun Shi ethereal, and I love the new fluff for the guy (including his awesome pic in the codex). The model...just feels too static.

So, while bending the little metal guy is an option, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for some other base model I could use to make one.

Something in say, a more combat like pose? I could take the head, and weapon etc. from my model, and try to build a better one.

My sculpting skills are not that great, neither are my 3d printing ones, but I am pretty decent at putting parts together to make new stuff.

So, any ideas on a decent Aun Shi stand in?

(Note: this is not about cost, I have an Aun Shi...I just think his pose is very bland).

thanks for your time and opinions.

I think the pose you want is something like prince yriel, but converting him to look tau would be a paaain.

If you want a huge challenge though, that's your model.

Hmmm...thanks for the idea.

That is certainly better than the tau model, but you are right...that would be a lot of work for just a small improvement.

Maybe something more dynamic, say like harlequins, or wood elf wardancers?

I am going to start checking out reaper minis, and maybe some others.

thanks for the response...that will be on my list!

What comes to mind is kit bashing a Aun'shi model from various plastic bits. Cadian/marauder/flagellant arms with an honor blade of your choosing, maybe a chaos marauder head (one of the ones with braids) that you convert using Fio Taels method. Possibly a more heavily armored torso to represent that he is always fighting alongside the Fire Caste (something like a flak jacket). A suitable cape and add legs of your choice, you could pose him to be stabbing an Ork or something!
