Hi, I've had my tau army since I was 8 years old, and the paintjob is awful. I was thinking about stripping them and repainting them in a different scheme. I wanted to paint my tau as close as I can to
this XV9 battlesuit, in a desert kind of style. However I'm unsure on how to best go about doing this. It looks like its been done with a spray can and painted over, similar to what is described
here. I was thinking about undercoating it in a brown colour, then drybrushing the armour pannels with a 7:3 mix of
Tyrant Skull and
Longbeard Grey, before going over the darker pannels in
karak stone. I'd paint the exposed metal areas in
karak stone before washing with
Seraphim Sepia. Obviously there'd be a bit more detailing and highlighting than just that, but thats the general idea.
Anyway, I want to know what you all think - this is the first time I've tried to come up with a complex method, so I'm a relative novice. Is this the right way to go about doing it? or should I literally just grab three spray cans and spray away? Am I using the right colours? what other colours could I use?
Thanks
