Hey Dakka-users, John signing in. I've been a 40K player for a number of years. This year expanding into Dust Warfare, Warmachine, and soon flames of war and after that my friend and I are trying Full Thrust. I started with a vanilla marines Assault on Black reach force we played in a club in grade 10 for 500 point games 1hq 1 troop mandatory. I went to Tau that I loved but gave up due to high amounts of anti-tau sentiment in the area to CSM which I enjoyed playing cult style. To trying Eldar which I loved and won often with but they where too expensive for the list I desired. So I began guard. Fell in love with blast templates and am now a CSM/Guard player normally. I have just recieved the Horus Heresy Book one and have begun reorganizing my space marines and CSM into a pre heresy army (mismatched models I know, not tourney legal or anything but I only ever play with friends) I also have an unbuilt but planned Grey Knights allied detachment and am looking at getting a 750 point Tau infantry force again because I loved them alot in smaller point games (most victories at low points levels that I ever had!).

I have committed the two major sins of wargaming of: Not having unified painted armies (nor even fully based) and I have, as seen above, MANY MANY armies. All made up of test models, essentially.

That's my current tally and a bit about my experience. I have gained alot of knowledge and ideas by coming here over the past 4 or 5 years and just browsing and decided I wanted to give back to the community that has helped me with my wargaming endeavors if I can.

Hi,

Thank you for the warm welcome! I am from Alberta, actually. If I may ask yours?

I am also in the middle of adding some necrons to my list of armies.

Hello John and welcome from your neighbor to the West (Alaska). Glad to hear that you have such an open minded approach to developing your armies. The game system is designed for that approach. Since some of us don't have the logistical opportunity to play in tournaments as long as our friends approve we might as well be creative with our armies.

May the dice be with you!

My mismatched collection doesn't look great on the table. And I have tons more models than I really need, but I think that's the fun of it. To be honest it was playing that drew me to the game and so I don't focus so much on the painting aspect as much of the: Hey, lets have a fun afternoon warring with armies of our own design. Right? I think you gotta have an open mind to this kind of thing, makes it more fun for everyone.
