Just getting into Warmachine; however, I have read around and from various sources I have compiled these two lists.
I started by picking up the models I like (Bane Thralls and Bane Knights) and I am trying to come up with a few lists that use them effectively. I know I probably should have picked the casters first, but I really liked the models, so I really would like to incorporate them into effective lists.
I have no illusions about the learning curve, but I at least want to be on the right track before I order the rest of the models. Thanks in advance.

Those lists are absolutely fine to be using. A couple of thoughts though. You wouldn't be able to use them in a tournament as they share character models (Tartarus, etc.) and Asphyxious2 is a very powerful caster and thus can be unfun for people to play against.

Seems good, I would try and sneak in blood witches+UA to deal with tough for the elich list though

I have since learned about the character restriction and I am getting ready to make additional purchases.
I have already gotten the starter box for Cryx and the plastic Harrower, thanks for the advice on the Blood Witches, will look at getting them next.

This Goreshade is perilously close to my tournament Goreshade list. Its fairly standard, and rather intimidating. You might look into a Skarlock Thrall, and possibly Necrotechs and Scrap Thralls to create multipurpose cheap bodies.

Asphyxious could really use a Skarlock - perhaps replace Orrik with it. If you could justify the Deathjack it is hard to argue against it as your heavy hitter.

I've never really seen the point of a Skarlock with Gaspy2. He can only cast Parasite and Excarnate and both of those would need the Skarlock to be close to the action and likely to die next turn. Whereas Saxon Orrik can get the Bile Thralls purging through the forests or Bane Thralls charging past that wall.
