Hi all!

New to the forum, and a returnee to the hobby...
Used to collect and play Nids back in 3rd Ed, and just got back into the hobby after a 10 years since last playing!
Got all my old Nids out the attic, dusted them off and suffered 3 devastating defeats as my introduction to 6th Ed!! (Still great fun though!!!)

So I've decided to collect a new army as I'm also dying to get back into a bit of modelling and painting.
Bring on the White Scars!..

Got myself Dark Vengeance and another set of the bikes, 12 more standard bikes and a rhino. (All from a popular Internet auction site).
With the intention of the following 1000pt starter list;

Khan and Command Squad (6)
Bike squad (6)
Bike squad (6)
Tactical squad in Rhino (10)

I'll use some space wolves bits and try my hand at some custom work, with the main work being the command squad.
I'm not a massive fan of having numerous duplicate models from the Dark Vengeance box so there'll be some slight customising here and there too. I also have the issue of all the Dark Angel iconography so even more work needed there!

So here goes...

Starting with;

Dark Vengeance Ravenwing x2

Dark Vengeance Tactical Squad

So many bikes to build!

Starting with the iconography...

Don't know how far I'm going to go with this but here's a start...

I'll change a few swords for lightening bolts here and there, but going to do all the shoulder pads.

Oh man, I feel your pain on the bikes front, on the DV iconography swaps too. I just polished off my 12 bikes and 3 modular sidecars for attack bikes.

I haven't started working on turning the DV tac squad into sternguard yet, but one tip on the shoulders... it may be quicker to use a razor saw and hobby knife to cut the interior block of the shoulder pad out and glue a clean one in it's place (leave the rim, just got for the middle). Might be more hassle than it's worth for you, though. I was inserting my own custom shoulders, so I had to get it out of there.

Good luck, looks like you're got a good start on it.

Thanks! Starting to feel like I will need luck...

I had thought about swapping shoulder pads out completely, but these are my first Marines so have no spares. Proper White Scars pads are a little pricy, and I'm now thinking I'll make a feature of the winged lightning bolt. Also plan to swap the swords for bolts on the ravenwing front fenders.

A tad more progress;

Not sure if I like the backpack banner, I'll wait and see what it looks like painted.
Subtly removed the swords from the Sarge's chest and the Multi-melta too.
And the Sarge's head'll be perfect with a green-stuff hair and tash combo!

Slow progress...

lol I have a huge mess of them, since I sculpted my custom ones and then started casting those myself. The lightning bolt and wings looks good on the shoulders. That's going to stand out real nice once painted, I think.

Doesn't need to be the fastest thing in the world. It just has to be right. I'm looking forward to this coming together.
