I played FoW with my friend a couple of weeks ago, and something has been playing on my mind a little bit... Basically I used a US tank company and he went for a rather curious German infantry company from earth and steel. I can't remember the name but I think it begins with a B. They are rated confident trained if that helps.

Anyway as I was checking this company out in his book (never seen it before!) I noticthey can only have one artillery platoon as a support unit. I found that odd as he had 8 guns (heavies of course). Now this particular platoon has a maximum of 4 guns. But next to it it says 'you must purchase all the guns from one gun section before adding guns from another gun section.' (I don't have the book so I'm quoting this from memory). He interpreted this as giving him the option of having one big eight gun battery. Does this mean that you can have two platoons, or one big one? Despite the fact that it would be easier just to have a points value for 8 guns, or options for two support platoons of artillery!

He was wrong, he can only take 4 guns max. The reason they say you must take the full section first is to prevent a player from taking 2 guns and 2 observers (one of each from each section). Each section has 2 guns and one observer at most.

He probably had these guys:

Thanks mate! I thought it a little odd... He kept nailing my tanks with double width templates or re-rolling his misses... It hurt! I will have to break the news to him!
