AM – First Round Begins
Army lists will be collected during registration. You must provide a detailed army list with all upgrades for reference at future tournament rounds.
Cost:
• $10 for each participant.
• $5.00 for each participant of a previous Southern Front event who brings at least one new tournament player.
• All money goes towards the prize pool.
What:
This event is the first stage of the escalation tournament. The tournament point allowance starts at 750 and escalates through each monthly event to a total final value of 1850.
Stage Point Values:
State One: 750
Stage Two: 1000
Stage Three: 1250
Stage Four: 1500
Stage Five: 1850
List Building requirements:
• With each successive event, you must use the list from the previous event as the core of your new, larger list. That is, you must use at least the same
FOC unit selections in your 1000 point list as you did in your 750 point list. If you start with a squad of 10 standard space marines in a troops slot, you must have a squad of at least 10 standard marines through the remainder of the tournament stages. If you select Bloodthurster as an
HQ option in Stage Two, you must keep Bloodthurster as an
HQ through each remaining stage.
• You can add models to a particular unit, but you cannot reduce the size of or eliminate a particular unit. You cannot split a unit/squad on your
FOC. If you start with a unit of 10 Aspect Warriors in Stage One, you cannot field two squads of five Aspect Warriors in Stage Two.
• If a model/unit is allowed to choose between several abilities that have no point value, they can select new/different abilities for each event as governed by the
BRB and codex.
• You can add or swap upgrade options on a model so long as the point total for that model is not less than it was in the previous round. If a model wielded a power weapon for 15 points and you want to swap it out for a missile launcher for 20 points, that is acceptable. You cannot swap out a 20 point missile launcher option/upgrade for a 15 point power weapon option/upgrade as that reduces the model’s overall point cost from the previous stage.
• You can change the designation of Warlord between your
HQ options, as governed by the
BRB and your codex.
Stage One:
Three-to-Four round, 750 point Warhammer 40,000 tournament, depending on the number of participants. Each round will last two hours, with an additional 15 minutes for set-up. There is NO painting requirement. Unpainted models will NOT hinder your ability to win Best Overall, General, and Sportsmanship prizes. All models must comply with proper basing and size guidelines.
You must bring:
• Three copies of your army list. Lists must include all basic information about each unit including weapons, special abilities, etc.
• 3-5 Objective markers
• Your codex, templates, tape measure, and 6th Edition rule book. (and of course your models)
Awards:
Best Overall, by total points (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
Best General, Win/Loss record (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
Best Painted Army (1st, 2nd)
Snake Eyes Award
Rules and Codex:
6th edition rules will be used.
• Allies are acceptable (consult the Allies Matrix in the 6th ed Rulebook for options).
• Players will roll for Warlord Traits prior to each game.
• Each player receives one Force Organization slot for Fortifications but fortifications must be included in your army list and must be carried through each succeeding tournament stage.
• Terrain will be set up by tournament organizers prior to the event.
• Night Fighting rules will apply based on scenario.
• Mysterious Terrain rules will be used where applicable.
• A mission packet will be provided at registration containing ALL deployment rules, scoring methods, and Objective details.
You must use the current codex for your army, provided it has been in general release for at least two months prior to the tournament stage. If the codex is less than two months old as of the date of the tournament, you have the option of using the previous codex release.
Forge World:
Forge World models are acceptable only as proxies for
GW codex entries. Forge World “Warhammer 40,000” approved models are not approved for this tournament.
Refreshments:
We all know how focusing on destroying our opponent can build up quite an appetite. Refreshments and drinks are not included in this tournament’s entry fee. Fongo Bongo provides very reasonably priced drinks and there are a number of fast food restaurants and a grocery store in the same shopping complex. You’re encouraged to bring refreshments to share.
