Sinister Chaos Marine

I've just started painting my very first Heldrake. It being my most extravagant and expensive model to date, I want to it to be somewhat more advanced in the paintjob than my average Marines.
My army theme is red and silver, with slight variations depending on role.

My first stab at this bugger is the same theme, but I've pushed my limits and tried some blending. Now I would like your honest opinion. Does it look like crap?

Utilizing Careful Highlighting

Maybe post a closer picture with better lighting, but from what I can see it looks pretty good without noticeable gradients.

And slightly blurry photos with a single light source are pretty much what it'll look like on tabletop. Maybe it doesn't look as good zoomed in with hi-def clarity, but unless your opponent gets out the monocle and puts his nose to it to truly inspect the blending, it'll otherwise be a successfully done paintjob.

Wash the metal first though, gotta bring out dem rivets.
