Battle it out against other players across 4 all new maps in the 'Aliens: Colonial Marines - Reconnaissance Pack' and instill fear into enemy marines with horrifying new xeno customisation content. Users that have purchased the Aliens: Colonial Marines Season Pass receive this content automatically and do not need to purchase it separately.
From the product page:
- Three new Team Deathmatch/Extermination maps including 'Shipwreck', a multi-tiered map where environmental awareness is key in getting the drop on your enemy.
- A new Survivor map called 'Off the Grid' located around the iconic Derelict ship outside the Weyland-Yutani military base.
- New skins, fatalities and heads for each xeno class allow for additional xeno customisation
Out tomorrow, the 7th of May.
Still no skin fix on female Colonial Marines though..

curious if this download will be decent. more DM maps etc are well recieved as i was getting bored playing the same ones all the time. The survivor one will hopefully bring that mode back some... I always found it slow to find games for it (Not as bad as Escape though).
Don't think it's worth the cost though, even though i have season pass it seems cheap throw out.

I still think they should ahve released bug hunt as a 8-10 man team, and had hordes of aliens swarming you as you navigate through huge maps.
My own theory (Which may be bad) was allowing the team to take 3 special weapons (Flamer, smartgun or Rocker launcher etc) and up to 2 turrets.
They work as a team moving through complex's / spaceships / bunkers trying to achieve objectives (Some objectives could need ot be done at once making the team have to split up.
Aliens would be primary enemy and swarm / sneak / hinder throughout the game.
revival could come via medial labs or cryo tubes at certain places, and at certain periods huge Left $ dead style swarms could come and th eteam has to hunker down and survive it.
add in queens, crushers etc and large open bays for the fights and it could have been pure gold.
Heck I'd even be happy then if they added a merc map with the mercs in huge numbers fighting aliens and the team id dropped in the middle of it.
excuse the off topic ramble, but that's just what I'd love to see.

That would work a whole lot better, the money system is a tad broken as the prices of certain interactions are absurdly steep. Once you have someone who isn't sharing money or runs off on his to grab a smart gun, but dies and screams at you for letting him rot, yeah, you're all boned.
And classes would be neat, with a medic, weapon specialists and an engineer who is better at cutting and hacking doors, plus being able to fix sentries should the need arise.

Those players really frustrate me, keep buying guns over opening doors or getting turrets which then causes you to get stuck in some poor location having to save up while running out of ammo.
The class idea would be awesome. maybe even giving them small bonuses like you said, enig for cutting doors or doing uploads computer stuff quicker, medic to heal quicker etc.
The only problem is deciding who get's the special weapons on missions full of randoms as People can be greedy

Random class assignment rarely works out for everybody. Picking kit before the game begins would work better. Plus, non-specialists can still use their unlocked and upgraded kit.
I've given a few of the new maps a whirl, they're okay, but nothing super spectacular in all honesty.

Agree. the compelx type one (Forget name) with the central outsde part is only ok. bit too haphazard looking. other two were again ok but not inspiring.
haven't tried the survivor map, is it worth sitting waitnig to find a game for it?

I haven't the foggiest, they're pulling a GW on us with this stuff, announcing it a few days before launch. The recon pack was announced one day or so before its release.
Makes me wonder though what they plan to release for the campaign, maybe a proper ending?

Sooooo, earlier this week Sega silently released the third DLC pack, which revisits other famous movie locations in multiplayer format.
Here's hoping they'll still do the fourth one as single player DLC.

walked around the new maps, some nice hidden bits in them which point to the films. but sadly not getting many games on them. The survival map is a bit tight for me, the fury map is nice, same with the alien one. but the maps aren't that useful if people keep leaving the game and if joining games keeps proving to be so hard.

The Nostromo map is well-done, if a bit too tight. Haven't given the others a look-see yet, not really worth it anyway, with hardly anyone on-line these days!

Wonder how much the game itself is now. I might get it if the price goes down below 20 bucks. Despite its flaws multiplayer was still pretty fun.

I'm really hoping this final installment (I assume this is the last bit their going to bother putting out) delivers. Really enjoyed the single player when i played it through so hopefully this continues the fun.

From what I've heard, it might be coming out either later today or next Tuesday.
Speculation regarding the actual contents of the pack are that it might be about Hicks and how he ended up back on LV-something-something.
That or cut content that they decided to put back in to make their DLC quota.

I'd love the Hicks story, leading up to where you meet him, and then onwards to what happens with him after the colonial marines game ends (maybe a few missions where they go find the answers to Bishop's 'we know everything' speach).

They released an update yesterday (They still haven't fixed the sleeves on female marines) but strangely absent from this update is the usual compatibility update for future DLC.
Anyway, here are the fixes:
General
• Adjusted melee encounter animations
• Various AI Improvements
o Adjusted Xeno behavior to only allow for tail attacks when they’re on ceilings
o Fixed an issue that could cause Xenos to walk upright on ceilings
o Adjusted Lurker AI to retreat a bit after a close encounter
o Fixed a bug where AI marines would occasionally default pose if incapacitated from a melee encounter
o Fixed a bug where AI would still be targetable by Xenos while incapacitated
• Changed the close encounter lighting to fade out instead of abruptly turning off
• Addressed an issue where player weapons would possibly continue to fire during melee encounters
• Adjusted the dissolve effect for Xeno head pieces and particles in Bug Hunt and multiplayer
• Adjusted the attack angle for the Xeno tail stab to prevent stretching
• Addressed an issue where Xeno gore effects would occasionally play twice
• Addressed an issue with the ‘Eat This!’ achievement from not being unlocked when using the double-barreled flush gun
• Addressed a rare crash bug when using interactive objects
• Addressed an issue where the motion tracker ping would play when you didn’t have a motion tracker available
• Addressed an issue where some particles would not appear when the World Detail slider was set to the minimum. NOTE: This may require some users to re-configure the World Detail slider (under Settings -> Video ) to ensure the setting is applied properly.
Campaign
• Adjusted “Recruit” difficulty to be easier. (Other difficulty options have not changed)
Versus
• Adjusted a broken Extermination Point in Excavation
• Addressed an issue in Extermination where the last two Extermination Points used would sometimes immediately reactivate
• Addressed an issue that wouldn’t let you select spectator cameras when joining games in progress Automatically Appended Next Post: It was released for Steam just now and it already managed to crash three times in less than ten minutes.

How have you found the campaign pack? I'm on hicks mission about fleeing the spaceship to get word out. so far it's nice cut scenes and the story seems decent.
Also noticing the aliens now love entering vents and making me run around until they ambush me.

I've played through it at long last after being forced to lower the graphical settings a bit. I kinda sorta liked it I guess. The first one was okay, I especially liked the end where she tried to murder the chest burster.
The other two parts were also okay I guess.
