Found something interesting out this morning. There are two different molds/cuts of the new iridium armor crisis suit. I had ordered a replacement model for a miscast one I purchased a couple weeks ago. After looking at the replacement today I realized it was different than my original model. As far as I can tell the only difference is that one has the breastplate tau symbol attached and the other has the symbol as a separate bit. This is probably for the best, because the attached model (the miscast one) had a mold line right across the lines in the symbols, thus removing detail. The new one, with the symbol detached, does not have this issue.

That is indeed one reason why this kit was unavailable for some time, because it was redesigned at the caster.

aah... well, seems like it was worth it. Better product.

That said, I did have the unfortunate experience of dropping that symbol bit while trying to assemble it this morning. Apparently, finecast blends in to the carpet really well at my place. However, after 40min of searching for it, I found it stuck to my leg. :/

Yeah I learned a long time ago to put a white sheet under my work table. Keeps paint spatters off the carpet and lets you see any bits leaping for their freedom.

Well, now I know why mine was a piece of crap that was warped and needed extensive cleanup.

I mean, more than the usual.
