Starting the new project and threw some paint on two test models. Blue tongues, green swords will probably stay, but looking for some other suggestions on the bodies/horns.

Maybe some better pics coming.

The black horns look better with the green swords, but if the swords were almost any other color, I'd say go for the yellow horns

I wish I could do the NMM, but alas I'm not quite that patient/talented

I would shade the crap out of the red and get it as dark as possible. Then bring in some top edge highlights to just pick out the details. I would pop the tongue and the sword out big time and let them be the focus. Black horns work pretty well.

I did lava bases, to get a strong lighting effect from the lava, i did yellow on the lowest part of the leg, organge on the calf and red (using an airbrush with a transition between) on the rest with a mahogany colour(dark red/brown) sprayed from above. Then i dry brushed the 'dots' yellow. With a lot more effort you can do all this with only a brush.

The sword with dark horns looks really cool! I did dark purple sword with lighter shades and a turnoise tounge.
