The game has improved a lot since release. The '40k' problems are lessened now:

Flyers are less dominant, and more people have viable anti-air to protect squads from air-to ground attacks
Tanks don't wipe out groups of infantry at a time, but they're also tougher so they don't die so quickly. The way armour facing works is still exactly the 40k method though (what quarter of the vehicle you are facing).

There's also buggies introduced, which are really fun teamwork based vehicles for Mad-Max like fighting. And a Commissar hat for the TR.

It's been my most played FPS recently anyway.

We gave it a try again recently, but found most of the issues that were in it originally are still there. The main change seems to be that there are more guns and vehicles available. There seem to be some new issues, as well - in particular, population balance is much worse now.

The new Harasser buggy is very fun.

I'm hopeful that the upcoming changes to the capture system (the lattice) will help make the game more fun by adding more flow to the battle, so I will be interested to see how that pans out.

I still play pretty regularly. I've learned to just ignore the situations that annoy me - trying to take biolabs from the NC, for example. I like all the base redesigns and most of the new guns/changes on the old ones.

Gone-to-ground in the craters of Coventry

I'lm on there once a week
And, last Wednesday my platoon had enough people online to split into a 2nd squad. Not massive, but still enough to keep things fun.
The new buggies are fun. They are the 3-seaters that other games get, with driver/gunner/rear-passenger. I've yet to stick my AA cannon in the back to give air cover.

I have a core group of four or five friends that still play, but sometimes it's nice to jump on with one of the bigger outfits that run open platoons like ODAM on Waterson. It's a ton of fun to be part of a coordinated four squad assault on stuff.

England

I would love to play it but it takes me 14 hours to install it and my computer crashes on 99%

1. Go to FLGS on a 40K game night.
2. Announce to no one in particular "I have over 10,000 points of Space Marines".
3. Sit back and watch as some 30-ish Neckbeard who still lives with his parents not only disputes your claim, but goes on to describe his 30,000 points of Blood Angels and how he has been playing since Rogue Trader days... And yet you will have never seen him either play 40K or that army.
4. From here, you have several options. Continue the conversation, or just end it. Either way, I guarantee you will waste 1+ hour of your life talking to this guy. Have fun!
