Is there any way to justify (fluff wise) having Skarbrand teaming up with a few slaneesh units?

I don't think Skarbrand is diplomatic enough to team up with anything not a servant of Khorne, and mind you mortal enemies much comes into play.

If you have nothing nice to say then say frakking nothing.

Demons trade or loan or even wager vassals all the time.

..s o.. Skarbrand betas up someone, in return he lends/donates/sells him the Slaanesh units.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Except Skarbrand is one of the few daemons that is literally mindless. All he feels is rage, all he feels is hate, he is a barely coherant mess of rage, hate, and spite, to the point where anything NEAR him becomes a festering pile of HATE and RAGE. Bloodthirsters usually are full of bloodlust typically, but they are coherant, Skarbrand is on another league when it comes to it.

I think the biggest thing is that he wouldn't care if its Slaanesh, all he see's is the enemy, slaanesh units are there somehow, but then they are close enough, all they can feel is the rage overpowering them, and soon they follow him towards what dies next. That which must burn for his rage.

How about from the Slaneesh side, would they be willing to fight beside him?

More likely Skulltaker. He doesn't kill the worthy, just butchers them until the head is left.

Would they be able to once afflicted by his bloodlust? I think maybe the Heralds and KoS would be able to resist, but I doubt they'd willingly try to, there's a reason why "Hate" was reintroduced against each side.

Whats to stop Skarbrand using a warp rift that some slaanesh demons created to attack a world?

The slaanesh demons could try to summon a kos and skarbrand finds the portal and tries to kill everything?

Or Skarbrand was trying to kill the slaanesh units and he chases/they lead him to where he can do the most damage

In fluff, they wouldn't sit round and play cards or anything - but temporary alliances do happen.

Skarbrand, as a being of mindless RAGE, may care less about slaanesh than a normal 'Thirster as he's mindless.

At the end of this - it's more fluffy than GK and Necrons as all your units would at least be from the same book

My demon army (grew from csm allies) has a Kos, a 'Thirster, a unit of demonettes and a unit of bloodletters and a demon prince.

I like the idea that they are in permanent competition with each other as each tries to outdo the other to prove which god is best.

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

If the demons were summoned by someone with the ability to summon any kind of daemon, like a Word Bearer, then it would make sense.

Alternatively, they could simply be two bands of daemons who have decided to kill their common foe before they lay into each other.

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it.

I thought about this a few years ago, since at least under the last Daemons Codex, Slaanesh Daemons got the most out of having Skarbrand around (lots of high Initiative attacks, making it more likely that you benefit from the re-rolls and kill the enemy, where as they don't benefit on account of being dead).

I had the proto-theme of a particularly cunning Keeper of Secrets that was essentially luring Skarbrand to planets and then having his/her Daemons follow in his wake reaping all the souls they could. The irony being that Slaanesh would be making good use of a Daemon Khorne essentially cast aside.

I miss the old Subject to Hatred rules of Daemon armies. Should have kept that Mechanic, and then they could have tooled around with various Marks permitting different things, such as overcoming the Subject to Hatred rules affecting the diametrically-opposed sides of Chaos by taking a Mark of Chaos Undivided (not the same one Abby gets) on an IC or HQ that would permit multi-godding between gods that normally hate each other.

Or perhaps a self-contained allies matrix for the various factions of Chaos.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
