Alright, so at my local gaming store, we play 1500 pts and I'm just now building up enough Space Wolves to play a regular game. There's also a tournament coming up that's somewhat nearby and is built for two allied contingents of 1000 pts, and I have two friends, one that plays crons and one that plays Eldar and I'm sure either of them would be psyched to go with. So here I'm going to layout my Space Wolf drop pod list, one for casual gaming and one for the tournament.
Tournament list
HQ:
Rune Priest
Elites:
3x Wolf Guard with combi meltas and powerfists
Troops:
5x Grey Hunters with a Rhino
9x Grey Hunters, meltagun, drop pod
9x Grey Hunters, meltagun, drop pod
9x Grey Hunters, meltagun, drop pod
Heavy Support:
5x Long Fangs, 4 with missile launchers
994 points. I could lose one combi melta and get a Chooser of the Slain on the Rune Priest, or just slap a dozer blade on the Rhino and call it good. I feel like this list will provide a lot of close range punch to the long range gunline my friends like to play and with only the Long Fangs in the back field and not being relegated to an objective so they can set up anywhere, ally rules won't be a big issue with either of my friends
"Fun list" The next 500 points pretty much go into two units, just because they're awesome
HQ:
Wolf Lord, Thunderwolf, Stormshield, Frostblade, Runic Armor, Wolftooth Necklace, Saga of the Warrior Born
Elites:
Same three wolfguard
Troops:
Same as above
Fast attack:
3 man Thunder Wolf calvary with storm shields, one with thunder hammer
Heavy Support:
Same long fang pack but given a razorback with either Las/Plas or TL'd Lascannons.
1499 pts
I definitely need more advice on the first one than the second one, but besides bashing my 500 pt Thunderwolf-star, I welcome any criticism on either list. So have at it Dakkaers.
