As the title says I am a new Tau player and new to dakka aswell as 40k, I have the battle force, and will be buying the XV8 commander suit. I am torn between an Artic theme or a lush jungle theme. any suggestion on how to paint or any links to a tutorial or gallery for inspiration? If i was to go Artic it would be with a white armor with purple highlights on the edges.

welcome to the greater good!

I would suggest going to the gallery, or just google images and searching for tau - you will find lots of neat paint jobs out there.

I can say that having done both basic and detailed basing, you might find the arctic basing a bit easier to do (less plants on the base?).

Both are fairly rare tau schemes, so maybe pick which you would prefer. Overall, however, darker minis can get "lost" visually on the table without a lot of highlighting, so I would perhaps suggest the artic theme.

best of luck and welcome to tau!

Just type Artic camo or Winter camo in google image and you will have plenty for inspiration in terms of color and patterns.

Easier to ask for advice on "How-to" once you really know what you are going for.

Thanks for the tips. But sadly I haven't found a guide for either iungle or arctic tau. I am not a very competent painter but I am a perfectionest, and I really want to do this right. If anyone has a guide or can give me some painting advice (I am leaning towards a tropical jungle scheme) I would really appreciate it!
