Just needed some clarification. Is the Spear a daemon itself or a possessed human? I didn't quite get that.

From what i can gather the spear was a daemon bound to the soul/void (im a bit vauge on that bit) of the black pariah. its sort of an example of chaos doing the impossible

Once more down to the beach, dear friends, once more,
To drown our sorrows with our English beer!
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility;
But when the blast of alcohol blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger:
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood.

Yeah it was a little silly.

How do you destroy a Cullexus Assassin?

Use anti-psyker power to absorb anti-psyker power using psyker power to cast psyker powers at the thing that absorbs anti-psyker psyker power and.... wait what?

I have to agree that they derped pretty hard on this one. Especially since Pariahs of all people should be pretty darn near immune to caprices of warp-based influences due to their lack of souls making them an anathema to psykers/daemons due to their anti-psychic field they project.

But as far as I remember he wasn't a daemon but rather was "enhanced" thanks to Erebus' tampering and had a daemon bonded to him like synthskin. So he was a step away from being possessed but it seemed more like was bonded to it like a symbiote ala Venom/Carnage in Spider-Man.

Spear is what we call a product of terrible writing, basically.

Spear was a Black Pariah, which was essentially a super-powerful Pariah. He was experimented on by the Culexus Temple and deemed too dangerous to be kept alive, so they sent him away on a ship towards a sun. Erebus & Co. intercepted the ship and bound a minor Daemon to him. It wasn't possession, exactly. Rather than the Daemon taking over his soul or warp presence like most possessions, it formed around the body of Spear and took control of him. Kind of like a Daemon suit.

I thought it was a cool concept, if not a bit confusing. I thought Nemesis was a good book, personally.

I get it now. I enjoyed the book, but this was the one thing I didn't get.
