I'm considering starting corsairs so I came up with a 500 pt list. The points might be slightly out as I don't have the fallen realms book to hand. Any advice would be appreciated.

Warband 1 165

Corsair bo'sun

12 corsair reavers

Warband 2 165

Corsair captain

12 corsair reavers

Warband 3 170

corsair captain
crossbow

12 corsair arbalesters

exactly 500

3 hobbit movies! Looks like Peter Jackson did a George Lucas.

Still in reserve.

Though a very straightforward approach, I think it could work. I know for sure that Reavers combined with the Bo'Sun makes for some serious goodness: I have a mere 100-point Corsair force for lightning skirmishes and it really came in handy.

I'm trying to think of what could be a real problem for your force. From the get-go it looks almost silly, but in application an army like this could work. Sure they're only Strength 3, but F5 and 2A makes up for that. The real problem is your Defense 4. On the plus side, you're going to be fighting a lot of S3 opponents, so that's no sweat. But on the downside, arrows are quite a bit more effective against you.

I think what you should do is switch the crossbowmen out for Haradrim Raiders with bows. If you use them in a loose skirmish formation ahead of your Reavers, then they'll have a much better chance of reaching the enemy (Though the chances of your skirmishers surviving the ordeal is iffy). Plus, the added mobility can come in handy for a variety of the objective games as well as kiting if you have to play defensively with your infantry. They can also maneuver around the enemy and help the infantry out when you inevitably end up facing a Gondor or, heaven forbid, a Dwarf phalanx.

Thanks for the advice. I think it might be worth getting a better hero to lead my force like Suladan on a horse. I think I'll swap out the arbalesters for either Suladan on horse with 7 serpent riders or suladan on horse with 8 haradrim raiders, the points aren't exact, to fit this in I have cut the corsair reaver warbands to 10 models. I'm still not sure whether I should go with Suladan on horse or get a cheap hero to bump up the numbers.
