I was excited to receive my box of Warlord US Marines in the mail yesterday that I am hoping to use for a few different games such as Bolt Action and any other World War 2 games I find.

I'm not as well versed in the Pacific theatre as some Dakkaites so I come here asking for some advice. First of all, I'm looking to base my force off of an actual unit, does anyone have some suggestions on what a good unit would be to model, they would have to be one of the more experienced units because I want my marines to be from the late war era. Also can anyone suggest a good book on the marines in the pacific, I've read a few personal accounts, but I am not sure what a good "historical" book would be.

Tying into my previous question, what was the general composition of a USMC platoon back then? Did platoons stick to any composition or was it a more adhoc assortment of elements tied together to fit the mission?

And finally for my own personal interests, I am half Navajo Native American and have always revered the Navajo Code talkers, I was wondering if anyone has ever produced any special models for them?

Thanks for the help!

Off the top of my head I would honestly look at some ideas on youtube doing searches on there so you can get some ideas. I am part of a group on google plus "Wargaming Chums" and there are quite a few Bolt Action/Historical guys there that might be able to direct you. There is a guy called Trojanartspainting (something like that) on youtube he has a whole library of historical books and he is a model/historical gaming guy and seems to be quite helpful and tries to be funny as well lol.. anyways he might be someone you can leave a post on one of his videos asking this question to as well.

I myself am rather new to historical things (which do interest me thus one reason i am interested in bolt action so i am learning as well ).

Navajo Code Talkers might be able to model them off infantry with radio packs. I was actually thinking of doing that on a pacific theater force in future of marines . I am only 1/16 not proven Native American (my family did not keep record of it... sigh) and not sure which tribe.
