Been away for a while, finally got a game together with one of my buddies. Here are the lists:
Me:
Kromac - +4WB
-Argus - 4
-Ghetorix - 11
Druids - 7
-Overseer - 2
Lord of the Feast - 4
Gallows Grove - 1
Him:
Rahn
-Manticore
-Daemon
Max Dawngaurd (the 2h weapon master sword guys)
Kittens with Mittens
Setup:
Our field has two patches of forest in the center with a wall aroudn 6in in front and to each player's right on opposite sides of the field. my opponent deploys the kittens on his right, rahn center behind his two big jacks with the dawngaurd grouped tightly on his left.
I deploy with Kromac center flanked by the argus and ghetorix, druids facing off against his kittens, with my lord of the feast and the tree close to kromac's right.
Turn1 opponent: He runs alot of his guys up. Dawnguard start heading towards the forests in the center along with the jacks. Kittens run up to the rock wall on his side. Rahn says with his jacks and casts Polarity field(?) on his dawnguard.
Turn1 me: I shuffle around a bit, kromac casts warpath, wild aggression on ghetorix, resolve on the druids then moves up center field with his battlegroup shifting towards the left to be cloaser to the druids. The druids form into a sparse line and move up in front of kromac and his battle group in such a way as to block LOS to them with their clouds. I have the druids on the ends cast anti-magic to stiffle his kittens and rahn. The lord of the feast runs behind kromac's group and seats himself with the druids. The grove teleports forward and towards the center field. I realized that the tree is really useless with Kromac so I plan to use it to block the charge lane of his dawngaurd.
Turn2 opponent: He Makes an interesting move here. Rahn and the kittens are going to be almost useless against my druids since they cannot be targeted by spells. To counter this, he runs his kittens over the wall and just barely gets into melee with my druids. He then moves ran up next to the forests mid field and hurls force blasts into his mage's backs. He catches several druids between two force blasts but only kills on in the middle of the formation due to their ARM of 15 (thank you resolve). He also kills one of his mages. he then walks his manticore and daemon into the breach between the trees and uses the maticore to lay down an AOE right in front of my battle group, hoping to deter me from chargin his formation. The dawnguard run into the breach and form up to charge next turn.
Turn2 me: I see a possible opening to assassinate Rahn. I activate lord of the feast after upkeeping all of my spells. I have a small channel where I can see one of his mages and I manage to make the difficult attack roll with my raven, landing my lord of the feast in the middle of his mage's formation. I attack and take down four of them. This allows my mages to walk right towards rahn, leaving a lane open for kromac. The druids try and force bolt rahn to pull him closer but they fail to hit. kormac's turn, he feats to beast form and moves/leaps into rahn with an inch or two extra. Three swings and the game is over.
This is the third game I have played with kromac where I have caught someone offguard with his beastform + leap + 16 potential attacks. I used to hate the druids because of how expensive they are but, now that I have used them a few times, I am starting to see how valuable they are. I think pretty much any list can make use of them and in this case, they forced my opponent out of his comfort zone and caused him to do some risky moves that ended up costing him the game. For the assassination run, I had initially charged one of my druids with kromac and then lept into rahn, after reading up on how charge and leap are worded, we dont think that you can charge and leap at the same time. It wouldnt have mattered as kromac would have been able to reach anyway, but, it would be helpful to have a definate answer to this.
