Hey dakka, as I'm daydreaming instead of studying for exams I thought about an idea for making a necron tomb world represented by the zone of mortalis/space hulk style gameboard. I'm excited as I love the idea of small kill team games, and a deathwatch force, eldar, etc hunting for necron goodies would make a very interesting game.
I wouldn't be able to even consider attempting this until well into 2014. But I was wondering if anyone else is working on a similar idea. Would the forge world zone of mortalis boards be ideal, or are they too imperial in aesthetic?
Moreover would this even be a feasible project?

Are the necropolis realm of battle tiles out of your price range? Because they're dedicated to being necron tomb worlds...you won't get as many tight corridors but there are a lot of interesting LoS pieces on the board.

The necropolis is nice but it's obviously an surface area. I'm really keen on developing something closely aligned with zone mortalis or space hulk. My impression at this stage is that it would have to be scratchbuilt (which is a staggering amount of work) with a lot of necron kits incorporated into the design. I suppose the problem with a theme board sub as this is that while it can be modular, the style could become tiresome after a few months - I can almost imagine it being more satisfying to build rather than to play on!
