Hey guys! Thanks for checking out my new PLOG!

I was very excited about the Eldar codex since the Eldar are my favorite race in 40k and I have an almost fully painted eldar army from about four years ago. I have the new codex, and I'm eager to start painting again and developing new army lists.

I had a fantastic time creating a PLOG to document the development of my Dark Eldar army (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/402942.page), and it really helped me make decisions and encouraged me to keep working. So, I'm excited to start another PLOG to go alongside my next hobby undertaking.

I have developed a lot as a painter since painting my old Eldar army, and I am bored of the paint scheme I used, so eventually I will strip my old models and redo them. But first, I need a new paint scheme.

In many aspects of life, I find inspiration in random places, and this is certainly true for the pallets that I choose for my warhammer armies. The purple/blue scheme for my Dark Eldar army was inspired by table top terrain set featured by GW during the Storm of Magic 0k release.

So a few weeks ago, when thinking about how I wanted to paint my new Eldar, I remembered a combination of colors that really struck me, and I was all but certain that I would use this pallet for my Eldar. It was from an old LEGO set, the Emerald Night train set:

I really like how the baige, brown, green, and black work together in this. The baige/green combination is reminiscent of the Dark Angels, and the black/baige contrast is very Ulthwe, but what was new to me was the way the slightly reddish brown plays with the baige and the other colors.

So yesterday, with that inspiration in mind, I went and purchased a new pallet of paints and a box of guardians, and got to work painting a test model. I figured that I would primarily use the baige/brown interaction as this was the most unique choice, and splash in the green and the black to complete the pallet. First I tried to leave the cloth-like armor underneath the armor plates black, paint most plates baige, and paint the head, shoulders, and chest brown, and use green for all the orbs and spirit stones. But this left the model very bottom-heavy, since there was so much black on its legs. Also, I was left unsure how to paint the gun.

Looking through the Eldar codex, I realized that most Eldar craftworlds don't change colors between the two lairs of armor on the legs and arms, they appear to be the same material. So, I tried a second test model, keeping all of the armor baige except for the shoulders, head, and chest. I liked this a lot better, so I finished the model, and here he is!

Please provide any comments or criticisms if you have them! Here are a few of the questions / thoughts I have about this model.
- I like having the head, chest, and shoulders as the secondary color (like the Yme-Loc have), but the model felt a bit top heavy so I decided to also paint the kneecaps brown. Think this works?
- Does the silver on the gun work? Or should I use a different shade of metal? Or should I just not even use a metalic shade and keep it black and wraithboneish?
- Every Eldar model has a lot of little bulbs on them. Some paint schemes paint all these bulbs like they're gems, others just paint them like the armor and only paint the main spirit stone on the chest as a gem. Do you like how it looks with all the bulbs as gems? Also, how do you paint these gems better? I'm not quite satisfied with how mine turned out.
- I used Doombull Brown for the brown. What color should I use to highlight this color??
- I used Seraphim Sepia to shade the Ushabti Bone, but this turned out a little browner than I'd like. I think it looks alright, but is there a better wash I could use for this?

Just like I did with my Dark Eldar army, I will use this PLOG to develop my Eldar army both on the work bench and on the battlefield. I'll post thoughts on the new codex and work on developing my army list, while discussing the physical development of my army.

Thanks for stopping by! More to come!
