My club met with the guys from Hyacinth games, the developers of Wreck-Age this week for a fun event.

The batrep is located here: http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-battle-of-ten-pike-wreck-age-battle.html

Here are some awesome pics to entice you:

Looks interesting, having more skirmish games on the market is always a good thing and the post-apocalyptic setting is the icing on the cake.
What were the rules like to play for the first time? i.e. were things relatively straightforward or did they take some explaining from the devs?

How to paint Skeletons the way I do if that's something you'd fancy trying.

I have played a few games before this, but it was new to the rest of the club. None of them had even read the quickstart rules that are available on the Wreck-Age website. It only took a few minutes to explain. Everyone picked it up very quickly. The game moves very fast. The quickstart rules are free, and they also have some scenarios available. There are some fun and fresh feeling mechanics in the game. I recommend it highly!

I am excited to have stumbled upon this here Josh!

For anyone who wants to know anything about the mechanics, its an "I go - you go" system that uses Activation Points to carry out multiple actions during each model's turn. Here is the current incarnation of the Quick Start Rules:

Speaking of which, next time Josh I want to have you guys try out some of the other Actions available that aren't in the Quick Start Rules.

I've got a solid amount of stuff that I picked up at AdeptiCon, I've yet to play, but it all looks interesting, and I especially love the little terrain things like the vendor carts and shipping crates. The models look good as well.

Soonish. We are all meeting today to do some editing and discussion for the soft cover rule book so we're going to tweak some things, play test them, and then hopefully we'll schedule something in a couple weeks or so. Sound good?

Stop drinking for like a week. You'll have more money than you know what to do with.

Josh and I got a game in yesterday, Stitchmen (jlo) vs Stakers (me). Let's just say his cabal won't have a shortage of organs any time soon.

I play it at AdeptiCon, and while I did not pick it up then (shortage of funds), I am going to be doing so soon. It was a fun game, and I'm looking forward to putting it in my rotation soon.

My official faction choice is "All of the above"

Possibly. I demo'd with a friend of mine - he asked afterwards about which distributors were going to carry it, and bought one of the armies.
