Hey all, brand new Warmachine player here. I got a 2 player battle box the other day and have been looking to expand on the Menoth army. I got a Choir first, and what was supposed to be a Vassal of Menoth, but apparently I accidentally ordered a Vassal Mechanik instead.

Is the Mechanik useful at all? I don't see it in too many lists. Should I just proxy it as a Vassal for now, try to trade it for a Vassal, or keep it and order a Vassal in addition? I want to get the best bang for my buck since gaming funds are limited at the moment (fortunately it was only an $8 purchase anyway).

mechanik is great for the battle engine, its not really all that bad if you have an extra point laying around and dont need the extra choirboys

The mechanik does not do the same things as the normal vassal so, whle you will be missing out on enliven and ancillery attack for a while, you don't have an inferior model. In fact, the mechanik is quite a good 1 point model. You'd probably have gotten one sooner or later as a point filler anyway.

If you have a point leftover and already took Wracks, the mechanik is a good buy.

A timely repair can mean a crippled Jack gets another round of glory.

And he's pretty much auto-include if you take a Vessel. More time to use its abilities.

Mechanik has the amazing ability to turn a Jack who had a system brought down early due to an unlucky shot back to full power

and that's enough to bring him, that could easily be worth more than 1 point
