Last night I played against one of the scariest Dark Eldar lists i've ever faced. I thought I'd post it for your guys perusal and comments. 1500 Points: 2x Dracon - cc weapons and pistol, 5 man Retinue w/ 2 Dark Lances w/ Raider - Disintegrator. 3x 6man Raider Squads w/ Dark Lance. w/ Raider - Disintegrator. 2x 5man Raider Squads w/ Dark Lance. w/ Raider - Disintegrator. 3x Ravagers w/ Night shields and 3x Disintegrators. 1x 10 Wyches, Succubus, Agonsier, Wych weapons. The wyches sit back for the couter if needed. The raider squads all deploy outside and jsut nail everything. Its a 90% shooty army. Losing a marine a turn to a raider sqaud is tough. Then the raiders hit with their "plasma cannons" - tough stuff. We were playing Omega thankfully, so not everything came out at once. And the only reason I won is cause of poor rolling on his side. Overall vs. my BA this was an insane list ! Your thoughts on the list?

I've seen a lot meaner DE lists along that line.

For 1850 points, I can field a WWP DE army that has 24 dark lances and 27 wyches.
I played against a friend of mine (who has won a GT with his BA's) and had him table'd in 4 turns.

I'd hazard a guess and say that the person you played against has played with DE since third. The all raider and 3 ravager "gunboat army" used to be horribly effective. I pretty-much stopped played DE because my list (similar to this one) never lost. With the changes to skimmers in particular and vehicles in general with 4th edition this army is now really not very strong at all. The disintegrators still destroy marines, but losing screening means that the paper-thin raiders all die very quickly.

The wwp one supposedly rocks but frankly I think that's a bunch of crap. I have yet to see it win anything down here. Maybe the players just suck though.
Take the list that guy had, get rid of his stupid wych squad and buy some good HTH characters to shore up your army. An Archon with a shadow field and a drachite on a jetbike are the optimal selections.
I think I'd just stick to dark lances on the ravagers. I'm not convinced by blast templates in their current incarnation.

The things that killed the raider army: 1) Blow it up and they're pinned 2) No screenie

Thanks for the comments guys- all appreciated. I was thinking about the HQs vs the wychs. Problem is- the HQ provide 4 lances through their retinues and making them the combat boys make them a bigger threat to shoot at. The wyches usually provide a decent counter charge - though, i will look into it.
Ive played a few different incarnations of DE recently. The player I play with is also really good, but the has by far been the scariest list ive been up against. Its possible that its just cause im a marine player, im not sure.
Longshot- The thing about the dissies is that you also get to fire it in the Heavy3 mode. Making it more tourney effective on account of flexibility. Its also useful when your opponent spaces his units more than 1.5inches apart.
I agree with the problem of screening, but most marine armies ive experienced just dont have nough firepower to counter this list. Especially not after their tanks are made light work of by the masses of lances.
Any other suggesions on how to improve this at 1500 level?

Seems really good against marines, not so good against Tau. Not sure how it would stack up against zilla nids. Probably whoever got the first turn, really.

I agree with derek and the Anarchist, first turn is huge. When I played DE in 3rd edition, if I got first turn the raiders would survive okay. If my opponent got first turn, more than half my army was dead right there. And now transports are even worse. Last weekend I played my first games using a WWP list and I was completely sold on it. First turn became mostly irrelivant, because your raiders don't even start on the board. The raiders are never standing still, so you'll only ever have glancing hits on them.
